Gender Fuck Thursday: A Whole New Year

Welcome to 2026, here are some hot women in hot menswear because we still deserve nice things. Honestly, they should just let us have it. It looks better on us anyway. Menswear only for women in 2026. As for the men themselves, well, let’s hope a lot more of them put in the work this year. Otherwise we’ll just have to take away the rest of their things, too. Until we can figure out what’s going on. You know, like their roles as Fortune 500 CEOs and congressmen and the President of the United States of America. Just as a start. Dream big, it’s a whole new year.

Lucy Liu & Drew Barrymore

Still Charlie’s Menswear-Wearing Angels after all these years.

Demi Moore

Now if she was the solo star and they called it “Landwoman,” maybe I’d watch.

Hayley Kiyoko

Schoolboy shorts always look better on girls, always.

Jessica Chastain

Has a man ever looked this good in a suit this color? I rest my case.

Leisha Hailey & Kate Moennig

Thank goodness they never had Alice and Shane hookup on the show. I mean, Jenny was mean enough.

Renee Rapp

Is there a premium Uber Black service where you get hot lesbians as your chauffeur? Because in that case, you win capitalism, sign me up.

Michelle Yeoh

Start with a hot Asian lady in a beige suit, end with a hot Asian lady in a beige suit. Now that’s what I call some blog post feng shui.

Fuck ’Em

For no reason in particular, fuck the GOP. Fuck everyone in the Trump administration who promotes his endless racism, stupidity and corruption. Fuck those 52 Republican senators who abdicated their duty to protect the Constitution and perform necessary checks on the Executive Branch’s powers. (Mitt Romney can stay, but is it really heroic to not actively contribute to the destruction of our democracy and actually do your damn job?) Fuck the MAGA crowd whose only joy is causing pain. And fuck this infernal election year which is only 37 days old but already feels like 37 years. Or, if all this is tl:dr, please allow these lovely Betty White and others to express my sentiments exactly. I guess a picture really is worth a thousand fuck yous.

Lena Headey

Cersei flipping her own High Sparrow.

Ellen Page

Tiny Canadian FU.

Gillian Anderson

The fuck you is out there.

Regina Hall & Tracee Ellis Ross

BFFFUS

Katherine Barrell

Office Haught says you have the right to fuck off.

Kristen Stewart

K-Stew actually looks happiest when she’s flipping someone off.

Lucy Liu

Fucking off is elementary, dear Watson.

Diane Warren & Helen Mirren

That’s Dame Fuck Off to you.

Carrie Fisher

Nothing but respect for my Princess/General.

Lucy In the Studio With Lesbians

Look, I’ve known Lucy Liu was an abstract artist for several years now thanks to her penchant for painting in a tank top. (See, unlike Tig I’m a lesbian who picks up on the REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF, duh.) But I did not realize that some of that art included tasteful shunga art (a traditional style of Japanese erotic artwork) that includes - wait for it - beautiful lesbian imagery.

In fact, Lucy has been showing her artwork since before she was a household name. According to a Hollywood Reporter profile on her artwork earlier this year, she studied art at the New York Studio School and has been showing her work publicly since the mid-1990s. And her rather graphic, if still abstract, erotic art features women loving women, as well as women and men in sexual embraces.

She told THR her sexual paintings were “ruminations on her upbringing in a family where sex and nudity were taboo.” OK, sure. But can we go back and talk a little about the women loving women stuff? Because, as far as I know, Lucy is single (a single mom of son Rockwell in fact) sooooo… I’m just saying, we already know Lucy loves a nice suit. Single queer ladies who live in New York, should the opportunity ever arise, please shoot your shot.

My Weekend Crush

Full Disclosure: I’m not sure I love Lucy Liu as a blonde. But I totally love Lucy Liu as Joan Watson.

For seven seasons Lucy played a gender-swapped Watson to Johnny Lee Miller/Ex-Mr. Angelina Jolie’s Sherlock Holmes. I’ve always enjoyed the series as a thoughtful crime procedural. “Elementary” wasn’t as gory as “CSI” or as scary as “Criminal Minds” or as silly as “Bones.” But it was smart and never as predictable as your average bag’em and tag’em shows.

I will miss her now that the show has ended. I will miss her and her suit game a lot. A lot a lot.

Part of what I loved was the dynamic between Lucy and Johnny. As Watson and Sherlock they just played well off of one another. And despite Sherlock’s aversion to emotions/on-the-spectrum behavior, you felt the genuine care and respect flowing both ways.

Plus, it was nice to see an accomplished Asian-American woman on television in a show that has nothing to do with her being a huge nerd, a math whiz or a tiger lady. I mean, sure, Joan was a surgeon - which is sorta nerdy. But, you know, mostly just brilliant. So thanks for seven seasons of Joan Watson. May there be so much more Lucy in all of our futures. Happy weekend, all.

Vacation Vixen: Lucy Liu

Lucy Liu volunteers to punch this week in the face for you. She’s generous like that.

Gender Fuck Thursday: My Dear Watson Edition

I don’t know if you’ve been watching “Elementary” or not this season. But you should be. One, because it’s so much better and less dude-centric than the Brit’s “Sherlock.” And two because Lucy Liu continues to absolutely slay it with her impeccable suit game. Now I’ve talked about Lucy’s suits before. About two years ago, to be exact. And her suits have only gotten better since then. While she used to prefer frillier, flouncier ties and scarves, these days she has gone straight-up traditional suit-and-tie (and, fine, one bow tie) and it.is.good. It is so good. But, you know, don’t take my word for it. See and deduce for yourself, kittens.

Vacation Vixen: Lucy Liu

As one of the stars of the shows I watch regularly, but rarely write about, Lucy Liu has always been a favorite. On “Elementary” she is not just a compliment to, but an equal of Sherlock’s. Her Watson is no second fiddle. And, I dare say, she dresses much more smartly as well. I particularly enjoy how Lucy has kept Joan’s tie-game going this season.

Gender Fuck Thursday: Lucy Liu Tie Edition

“Elementary” is one of those shows I watch but rarely write about. It’s probably because there’s little overtly gay about it. And also probably because it’s one of those reliably good shows that doesn’t inspire much ranting. Also, sometimes it’s nice to just have some things to yourself. And I do find it quite nice. I dare say – and I know this is sacrilege to some – that I prefer this version of Sherlock and Watson to the British version. A lot of that has to do with Lucy Liu. Her Watson is much more of an equal than merely a sidekick. And I like that. I like that a lot. I also like how Lucy has stepped up her neckwear game this season. What can I say, the woman wears a cravat well. Alas, now we must wait until next season to see what ties our dear Watson shows up in next.

Until then, a look back in wonder at Watson’s necktie style.

Gender Fuck Thursday

Does the real fear of our country falling under the neo-fascist rule of a racist, sexist short-fingered vulgarian got you down? Then how about some beautiful women of color in black-and-white to cheer you up? Oh, also they’re in various forms of so-called menswear. Why? Because irony is damn beautiful. You’re welcome, America. Now get the hell out there and vote. Oh, and Ted Cruz is just as bad. Shudder.

Viola Davis

Still catching up on HTGAWM Season 2. Question: Does it get gayer?

Gina Rodriguez

She is so damn delightful and I feel so damn guilty for being so damn behind on “Jane the Virgin.”

Janelle Monae

Every time I see Janelle in a suit my heart grows three sizes.

Archie Panjabi

I’m so excited Archie is finally getting her own series.

Angela Bassett

I don’t know why Angela keeps showing up in “American Horror Story,” since she is always so terribly underused. But bless her for continuing to do her very damn best with what she is given.

Lucy Liu

“Elementary” continues to be wonderful. That is all.

Zendaya

I think I am too old to fully understand who Zendaya is.

Janet Jackson

We should all follow Janet’s lead and sip copious amounts of tea throughout this entire insane election cycle.
