It’s my birthday week and I’ll post throwbacks to Anna Silk and Zoie Palmer practicing a fight scene for “Lost Girl” if I want to. But then, watching two incredibly talented and beautiful actresses pretend to pummel one another is kind of a gift for all of us. It’s also Hump Day, not coincidentally. Man, I miss that show.
p.s. Bonus points if you remember which episode made Zoie go all Wolverine. I do, but then how can you forget the episode where Zoie also sang in French. Ohh, lala.
More gay-ish TV news, but admittedly much much less gay than the last two day’s news. So if you’re a Canadian kitten, or did a lot of downloading and using VPNs, you are no doubt familiar with “Being Erica.” The TV show aired for four seasons in the late aughts, early tens on the CBC. Well it is being rebooted for American TV with “Girls” and “Get Out” star Allison Williams as the lead.
The original show centered on a woman named Erica (duh) who – and bear with me because I’m getting this from Wikipedia – appears to have a magical therapist who can send her back in time to relive her biggest regrets in life. Damn, Canada, drinking the strong stuff I see.
I don’t understand the mechanics of how this time travel therapy worked because I’ve never watched a whole episode. In fact, I’ve only ever seen clips from one episode. That being the Very Special Gay Episode of “Being Erica” starring Anna Silk as Erica’s sexy lesbian next-door neighbor. Trust me, Anna has the lady magic with or without Bo (or Lauren or Tamsin, for that matter).
I remember the clips from back in the day well because nobody forgets getting flirting with Anna Silk. Also there’s finger painting and ladies sexy dancing with other ladies in clubs and hand bikinis and just all kinds of late aughts, early tens straight-gals-experimenting-with-lesbianism cheesy goodness. Yeah, I definitely remember those clips – fondly. They were memorable for, um, reasons.
Obviously, I have no idea whether this reboot of “Being Erica” will have anything as or more gay in it than the original series. My point? Well, mostly I just wanted to post those old clips of Anna Silk doing her best to get another lady into bed. Feels like old times again.

Women in tank tops are a thing of beauty. Women in tank tops moving in an eternal loop of hotness are also a thing of beauty. You’re welcome.
The saying is three makes a trend. So three favorite female former co-stars reuniting in real life is a trend that brings three times the joy for our little shipper hearts. Last month in March, appropriately Women’s History Month, we were treated to a trio of reunions of lovely ladies who were once onscreen colleagues.
First there was Stephanie March and Mariska Hargitay, who reunited on the set of “Law & Order: SVU.” Stephanie, a.k.a. ADA Alex Cabot, is reprising her role as a guest star in an episode this month. Alex and Olivia back together again? Yes, all the pleases.
Then there was Simone Lahbib and Mandana Jones of “Bad Girls” fame. Now, admittedly, I never got into the late 1990s, early 2000s series. But I certainly watched Nikki ad Helen fanvids. And I certainly know how much the sight of them here, as if still together after all these years, warms so many hearts.
And finally, how can you not love seeing Bo-Bo and Lil Mama back together again? Anna Silk and Ksenia Solo had a lunch reunion last week and it made me miss “Lost Girl” all over again. I miss all those lovely humans sharing a screen together, I really do.
Just in case you had forgotten, there once was a show called “Lost Girl,” and it had its female leads have leg grabbing, shirt ripping, screen melting sex scenes like this. And it was good. So good. Happy I’ll be in my bunk weekend, all.
Hey! It’s my birthday! And what I want most for my birthday – besides that we elect our first female president in exactly one week – is for all of you to have as wonderful a day as Doccubus, Shoot, Clexa and WayHaught seem to be having in this video. In honor of Defend a Bisexual Day*, here is a little tribute to my favorite on-screen bisexual badass of all time. Oh, Bo Dennis, how I miss you so. But I’m buoyed by the thought that you’re off somewhere scissoring** with Dr. Lauren Lewis. So why all the bisexual love today? Well, why not. But also because I will have a new column up over at Women & Hollywood about how the media should stop being terrible about Amber Heard’s bisexuality. And also how they should stop being terrible about domestic violence in general. But then, you knew that already. Happy take-no-shit-like-Bo weekend, all.

So, as you can see, I’m going on vacation for a bit. Or, more accurately, I’m going on a “vacation” – meaning I’m going back home to help my 70-something mom move out of the home she has lived in for 40-something years. I know, so relaxing. But, while I’m gone, I shall of course be posting fresh, hot, lovely Vacation Vixens in my stead.
I thought I’d kick things off with the always lovely Anna Silk. This week I posted my very last “Lost Girl” Rewind Mini-Cap, to coincide with the airing on the finale on Syfy. While most of us said goodbye to this show last October, there was an unmistakable finality to writing my mini-cap. It’s over, it’s really over. Fae-thee-well, you bonkers show. Thank you for the happily ever after.
I have had the very good fortune of interviewing Anna Silk four times now. She had been, as I’ve said before, really lovely each time. You can read the previous one, two and three times here. This most recent fourth time was most likely the last time I’ll interview her about “Lost Girl,” which is bittersweet for sure. You can read that interview today over at AfterEllen.
Now, I’ve been writing about pop culture for a long time now and I can unequivocally say it’s a rare and wonderful treat to have a star who is as open and accessible as Anna has been throughout the course of “Lost Girl.” In short, we’re lucky to have had her for as long as we did.

Hell hath no fury like a fandom scorned. So, yeah, that happened. Stop reading if you don’t want to be spoiled for the upcoming final episodes of “Lost Girl.” Or, you know, if you’d rather live in a magical and benevolent land of happy relationships and never-ending shower scenes where couples don’t break up – again – for no good reason. Look, at this point I feel like that saying, “Fool me one, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me,” might actually apply. How could they do this to us again? How could they keep breaking Bo and Lauren up for increasingly lame reasons? The initial spy-bang thing? OK I get that might create some trust issues. The whole my ex-girlfriend is in a coma, but just woke up? Yes, that does pose a bit of a wrinkle. The I need a fae-cation stuff? Um, sure, but only if it’s just a break. This I am a healer and you are a protector and I can’t make you watch me grow old crap? Shut up, shut up, shut up. The most frustrating thing about all this, even if you aren’t a die-hard Doccubus fan, is how needlessly repetitive it all is. Like, we’ve all seen this episode before, many times. I feel like Anna and Zoie probably picked up their scripts and said, “Wait, didn’t we already film this before?”
Because of that, because it had already happened again and again and again, I guess I just did not think they would go back to that same well once more. This is not our first time at this rodeo, and yet it still threw us. And we’re left dazed and dusty on the dirt wondering what the hell just happened. This crap happened, that’s what happened.

New trailer! New trailer! NEW TRAILER! Yes, I realize we’re going to start getting a lot more of these as Sept. 6 steamrolls our way. But while they still feel fresh and new here is what I have to say about this one.
1) I’ll never be tired of seeing Kenzi again. Mark, not so much.
2) Hey, look, Tamsin is alive. And so is Linda Hamilton/Acacia.
3) Each time I see him he adds such a weird, yet also welcome B-movie vibe. I can’t explain it, really.
4) *unintelligible squealing sounds*
Some thoughts? That is, if you can do more than squeal.
Oh, yes. Oh, no. No, but also yes. Yes, but also no. It’s the beginning of the for-real end of “Lost Girl.” I can’t really express my feelings. I’m excited to see how this story ends. I’m so sad this story had to end. So sad. Still not over it. But, alas, chin up. We soldier on. And we’ll analyze on as well with the very first new trailer for the final episodes. So let’s dive right in with six off-the-cuff reactions to the new footage.

Hey, America. Better late than never, eh? So Syfy FINALLY announced the start of “Lost Girl” Season 5 here in the states. Damn, network, why you gotta make a gal wait like that. They’ll start airing the first eight episodes of the fifth and final season April 12 on Syfy. Of course our Canadian friends – and those of us who like to pretend we’re Canadian – started watching last Decmeber and have been waiting patiently for more since the end of January. No word on when the second half will air, either in the U.S. or Canada. Way back when the first season was announced they said it would air in “Fall 2015,” so I’m guessing October or November. *harumpf sound* But, hey, this is still good news for everyone here who likes to watch things old (and legal) school. Ahem. I think I might have to rewatch, because just watching that video of these crazy kids being crazy makes me all nostalgic. Come back, Lost Girls (and a few of the guys), come back.

p.p.s. Oh, hey, I am well aware Bo and Tamsin are bisexual and I am quite happy about it. So when I called them "such lesbians" in the context of the recap it was as a joking term of endearment that could be applied to anyone - women who love women or men or both and/or men who love women or men or both. It was referring to their processing, which is a trait often ascribed to lesbians. It was not an official declaration of how I identify them or how they identify themselves. It was a joke, which I like to do in my recaps and hope we all like to do with each other as friends. Precise language is important, but the ability to have a sense of humor about and enjoy each other and our community is also important. And now back to my vacation, which I continue to recap during because, again, I love you.
My continued apologies for the tardy postings. I am in the midst of recapping two shows and working my full time job and trying to be a somewhat social human being this holiday season. So something has to bah humbug, and that is timely blog posts. But, fear not. Only one more (sniffle) The Fall recap this season and then I will just be down to normal busy instead of ughwhatmakeitstop busy. If I was a body language expert (which, as lesbian, I clearly am after years and years and years of trying to figure out what that cute lesbian across the room who you were too afraid to approach and talk to was really thinking), I would have a lot to say about the new “Lost Girl” promo pictures. I would particularly have a lot to say about the new “Lost Girl” duo promo pictures. First, the pictures.
I still, STILL, can’t believe it’s ending. But with each new promo I get reminded: The end is near. Sigh. I fluctuate between extreme excitement and extreme sadness the closer we get to “Lost Girl” season 5. Excitement because, hot damn, a new season of “Lost Girl.” Sadness because, say it ain’t so, the last season of “”Lost Girl.” But I don’t have to tell you. You know exactly how I feel.
p.s. The continued adorability of the entire cast helps ease the pain...a little.
So yesterday was the last day of filming on “Lost Girl.” The. Last. Day. I can’t really wrap my head around this although I knew it was going to happen and had accepted its inevitability. Still, the finality of losing this show is only now just setting in.
