Tank Top Tuesday: G Flip & Friends Edition

After all these years of writing about G Flip, I guess it’s about time I saw them in real life. Crazy, I know. I’m going to see the Aussie star this weekend for my birthday, which admittedly seems pretty gay. So, you know, it’s perfect. Sheepishly, I’m still not all that familiar with their music. But I am taking a crash course now, starting with watching their “Big Ol’ Hammer” music video. I don’t know how I missed this over the summer, what with its choose your own adventure masc hotties for all wlw tastes. And in tank tops no less. And Fortune Feimster. And the little not-Shane Jacqueline Toboni. And did I mention all the tank tops? I mean, it is Tuesday.

p.s. No, I don’t know if Chrishell will be there. No, I’ve still never watched “Selling Sunset.”

Music Monday: More Beach Time

Hey, remember The Beaches? The all-girl, half-queer band from Canada who sing about kissing girls and all that good stuff? Well they played Coachella this year and had Very Special Lesbian Guest G Flip come out on stage with them. Seems like everyone had a gay old time, wouldn’t you say. Happy Monday, kittens.

Music Monday: G Flippin

Admittedly, all I know about G Flip is that they're married to someone from “Selling Sunset”/Lifetime movies, neither of which I’ve watched. But their gender flipped (see what we did there?) version of Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer” is making me want to know more. And it also solidified my belief that drummers are hot. I mean, who can’t appreciate a musician with great rhythm? Also, you’re welcome for the January tank top a day early. Happy Monday, kittens.

Into the Wilderness

Since we’re talking about gay TV movies, how about another? And we don’t have to wait all the way until almost Christmas for this one, because it will debut on Lifetime Nov. 4. Remember the days when we got maybe one Very Special Made for TV Movies about The Gays every five years or so if we were lucky? Now, well, at least there are more. I will politely not comments on their quality since, well, that’s not the point.

The other sign of clear progress is I’m about to write a sentence filled with the names of queer celebrities I barely comprehend, let alone know exist. Chrishell Stause of “Selling Sunset,” who is married to nonbinary Aussie music star G Flip, will star in a new Lifetime movie. I thought Chrishell was a real estate agent? Like I said, I’m now just a clueless Old.

The thriller, called “You’re Not Supposed to Be Here,” stars Chrishell and Diora Baird, who play a lesbian couple on their “babymoon.” I didn’t know that was a thing either, but for the film’s purposes it’s when a couple is pregnant and their boss gives them a key to his creepy cabin in the woods for a a remote mountain town getaway. But instead of relaxing in the wilderness, they get an unwelcome welcome from the townsfolks. Is it homophobia? Is it a Rosemary’s Baby situation? But, seriously, isn’t Chrishell a real estate agent?

I wasn’t totally sold on the storyline. I mean possible homophobia as a scary plot device? Hm. But then I saw that two memorable “The L Word” guest stars were also going to appear. Namely Stacey “Vagina Wig” Merkin (Heather Matarazzo) and Lisa The Lesbian Man (Devon Gummersall). So, yeah, I think that means we have to watch.

Flip It and Reverse It

So I guess we’re gonna dance it out these last few days of Pride, which is fine by me. I don’t care, like even a little, about most reality television. But following the latest trend among celesbians of introducing the previously considered straight woman you are now dating via your new music video previously seen from Lesbian Jesus herself Hayley Kiyoko, Australian queer nonbinary singer G Flip had a public coming out for her new girlfriend with her video for “Get Me Outta Here.” G Flip is dating Chrishell Stause of “Selling Sunset” which I have never watched but whatever. But I will watch them make out in a 7-Eleven because I am shallow like that. Also G Flip wears a ton of tank tops and it’s Tuesday. So, you know, I have my reasons.
