My Weekend Crush

As a lesbian getting a divorce let me just say I feel this level of sweet, sweet karma with my whole body. While we’re obviously not taking sides (cough, Team Ali, cough), Ali Krieger got the storybook ending to her professional soccer career we were all no-so secretly rooting for. And while Pinoe’s early exit in the championship match was a bummer, nothing could take away from the sheer joy of Gotham FC’s win. The win also means Ali’s fellow out queer teammates Kristie Mewis, Kelley O’Hara, Delanie Sheehan, Sinead Farrelly and Michelle Betos have some new shiny hardware to show off as well. Plus, it was an exciting game – even without Megan Rapinoe. Women’s sportsball for the win! Soon-to-be divorced lesbians for the win! See, I can be on many teams. Happy weekend, all.

I’ve followed the USWNT for over a decade and Ali Kreiger is amazing - integrity, gracious, badass baller!! Her personal history and story is amazing.

I was at the game in San Diego! Such good vibes, and all The Gay sportin’ flair. It was stunning when Pinoe was hurt. No one knew what was going on. The ending was full NWSL After Dark - iykyk! Pure chaos! What’s shown on tv differs from reality.

Ali Kreiger was a great friend to hug Pinoe, not knowing Pinoe was leaving for good. And Pinoe was amazing not to tell Ali in the moment.

No One wanted that, even the players, both teams wanted to play their best opponent.

Gotham FC was solid as a team - mentally, physically, and well organized! Gotham FC and Ali fans were definitely the majority… possibly case OL Reign had just beat SDFC. All the signs and chants - definitely a story book ending for Ali Kreiger an iconic player! I even said at game to everyone - A. Harris doesn’t deserve her!

It’s going to magnify her post-futboler career.

Game day
11-11-2023 = 11 Ali’s day!
