My Weekend Crush

I am, like pretty much every red-blooded mammal on the planet, wildly attracted to Christina Hendricks. The hips, the hair, the skin, and – let's not be coy – the cleavage so otherworldly that not only does it have its own gravitational pull, but its own distinct atmosphere complete with micro-climates and changing seasons. All of it is totally working for me.

Which is interesting considering I don't watch “Mad Men.” Look, I know the show is a wonderfully acted, smartly written and beautifully rendered representations of a certain time and place. But I simply can't handle the oppressive misogyny built into its core. I realize, also, that it is filled with strong and impressive female characters. There have always been strong and impressive women, no matter the age. But the claustrophobia of the time and the stiflingness of that reality make the show hard for me to watch.

Christina, on the other hand, is easy to watch. Delicious to watch. Quite possibly the evolutionary reason humans were given eyes. And I know this is an odd thing to notice given all of her other outrageous attributes, but I think she has the cutest chin. That little dimple, God, it's so perfectly kissable. Happy weekend, all.

p.s. That scene where she implicitly rejects without rejecting her roommate's declaration of love, well, that's the stuff gal gals' hearts have been breaking over for centuries.

Well, if you're looking for a way to a avoid the misogyny built into AMC's "Mad Men," you should certainly catch Christina Hendricks when she guest stars on "Life" on NBC. All the deliciousness, none of the hassle.

I say that with one caveat, though: the sight of Christina Hendricks and Sarah Shahi frequently within the same hour maybe a little more hotness than the average red-blooded mammal can handle.

Hendricks was actually in an episode of 'Without a Trace' a couple years ago, where she played the roommate and best friend of a female writer who was in love with her (this appears to be a trend).

Luckily this ended up much better:

I am such a geek, I can't believe I know this. And as a smaller-breasted woman myself, can I just say ... wow.

That's an unfortunate case of vagina arm. Know what I mean?

I first saw Hendricks in Firefly... and I pretty much fell for her when she first appeared on the screen.
Anyone else a Firefly fan?

Those boobies look so not normal.. Ack!

Actually, they do look normal. Just slightly "uplifted". Wonderbra folks!

I agree that Mad Men is very hard to watch. I think it is kind of like watching a car accident.

But the acting is just so on the mark that it is hard to turn away from.

And I rank Christina Hendricks right up there.

There was this scene with Joan and her boyfriend that so subtle and yet so horrid, as a viewer it was hard to believe what I had just witnessed.

And it was all due to Christina.

I must not be as red-blooded as I thought because she is a total turn-off to me. Sorry to be a bummer. I usually agree with Ms Snarker but on this one; you can have her!

You could say Mad Men is a show about missed opportunities - people so blinded by their cultural mindsets that they fail to see success in front of them - missed business success, missed personal growth, missed love all over the place.

This is one of the most poignant examples.

Check out Christina Hendricks when she guest stars on Firefly - the episode called "Our Mrs. Reynolds." Particularly, the scene in which she tries to seduce Inara (Morena Baccarin). Swoon.

Sarah (in Chicago)- Christina Hendricks played the agoraphobic advice column writer on that episode of Without A Trace (4x17- Check Your Head) who was in love with her female assistant (who was also in love with her)... Good stuff.
-Elizabeth (also in Chicago)

During the friend's declaration of love, when she talked about first seeing her in college and wondering who *is* that woman - it SO reminded me of a similiar speech by Shirley Maclaine in The Children's Hour. It was so close - and both set in a similiar time period - that I have to think it was a passing homage. Which would be nice. :)

Firefly rocks ...and Hendricks wasn't bad either.

...although I'm kind of a Zoe fan
