My Weekend Crush

Recent events notwithstanding, my love for Buffy the Vampire Slayer remains unequivocal and unwavering. She is the one girl, in all the world, with the strength and skill to hunt the vampires, demons and the forces of darkness. She is the chosen one and my favorite pop culture creation. Buffy turns the stereotypes of her genre on their head with one swift roundhouse kick. Here is this cute, petite blond named - of all things - Buffy who instead of being the helpless victim is the all-powerful heroine. But she isn’t merely a stoic superhero, either. She is a conflicted teenager and later a troubled adult. She knows both the absurdity and the gravity of her situation. While she sometimes stumbles, she never fails to rise to the occasion. Sure, she doesn’t necessarily do it all with a song in her heart (well, except that one time, with all the singing), but she does do it with a quip on her lips. And, along the way, she has become one of the greatest, most subversive feminist characters of this generation. Happy weekend, all.

I love buffy. it's "the name of the rose" of all tv series.

you can follow the tale, or see it as a metaphor for something else.
it's pop and post-modernism together. funny and smart. it's full of references to films and pop icons.

and joss whedon is a genius. the only difference between him and tarantino is that the latter does movies.and people are still so blind not to understand that tv series can be art. or just a powerful mirror of our lives.

(an italian fan)
