Music Monday: Monday Murmurs

How the fuck is it already the first Monday of March? How about we give the rapid progression time the greeting it deserves instead? As in, you suck! Kidding. Sort of. Not entirely. But how better to celebrate the world as we know it eventually getting swallowed by the sun than to flash back to younger, more heady days. Now, I knew all about Lesiha Hailey before she ever charted on “The L Word” from both her truly great 1997 lesbian movie “All Over Me” (that soundtrack still lives happily rent-free in my head) and also from her truly fun 90s band band The Murmurs (with Heather Grody). I picked up “Pristine Smut” on a whim in a bargain bin, and instantly fell in love. And then, well, I was a fan for life. This was also around the time Leisha and k.d. lang because perhaps the first celesbian couple — though of course k.d. was much more famous at the time. This was before Ellen and Anne (R.I.P.), and well before Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels. But just look at those adorable baby gays. Seems both like a second ago and a lifetime away. Suck it, time! Happy Monday, kittens.
