Happy Carol Day to all who celebrate. Everything goes full circle. I’m not sure I’ll do my annual rewatch tonight or not, honestly. The movie was a favorite of ours. And watching it solo is, hm. We shall see if it still makes me believe in perpetual sunrises.

I say watch Xena instead this year. It’s been part of my holiday tradition for a decade and there’s nothing better than settling in for some grade A silliness when the days are short and the wind won’t stop blowing. Carol is a stunningly beautiful film but Xena has drag queens and hot tubs and fights involving airborne lobsters screaming “oh no!” as they’re hurled at the bad guys. It has Lucy Lawless popping out of a giant cake wearing only whipped cream. It has Renee O’Connor’s abs. And there’s Xena Warrior Podcast for all the times you can’t watch tv but don’t want to stop thinking about Xena for even a second. This is hands down the best way to get through the holidays.
Unless you live someplace with legal weed. Then I recommend combining them.
