My Weekend Crush

I will strive to emulate the proudly feral energy of the women of 80s punk rock in the new year. So please enjoy Chrissie Hynde, Debbie Harry, Viv Albertine, Siouxsie Sioux, Poly Styrene and Pauline Black setting the perfect IDGAF/Smash The Patriarchy vibe since before Mick Jagger’s current girlfriend was even born. (Sadly, not hyperbole.) Anyway, 2022? I don’t even know her. Happy weekend and first week of 2023, kittens.

I went to a Blondie concert in the mid 90s and a fan offered Debbie Harry a bouquet of flowers while she was singing. She kindly accepted the gift, then, while barely interrupting the flow of her song, she bit the heads off the flowers and spat them out at the audience as she stalked along the edge of the stage. It entirely set the tone for the show.

Chrissie Hynde has always given off the "don't fuck with me" vibe. Love her and The Pretenders.
