Same Old Story

Hell hath no fury like a fandom scorned. So, yeah, that happened. Stop reading if you don’t want to be spoiled for the upcoming final episodes of “Lost Girl.” Or, you know, if you’d rather live in a magical and benevolent land of happy relationships and never-ending shower scenes where couples don’t break up – again – for no good reason. Look, at this point I feel like that saying, “Fool me one, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me,” might actually apply. How could they do this to us again? How could they keep breaking Bo and Lauren up for increasingly lame reasons? The initial spy-bang thing? OK I get that might create some trust issues. The whole my ex-girlfriend is in a coma, but just woke up? Yes, that does pose a bit of a wrinkle. The I need a fae-cation stuff? Um, sure, but only if it’s just a break. This I am a healer and you are a protector and I can’t make you watch me grow old crap? Shut up, shut up, shut up. The most frustrating thing about all this, even if you aren’t a die-hard Doccubus fan, is how needlessly repetitive it all is. Like, we’ve all seen this episode before, many times. I feel like Anna and Zoie probably picked up their scripts and said, “Wait, didn’t we already film this before?”

Because of that, because it had already happened again and again and again, I guess I just did not think they would go back to that same well once more. This is not our first time at this rodeo, and yet it still threw us. And we’re left dazed and dusty on the dirt wondering what the hell just happened. This crap happened, that’s what happened.

For my full recap of this week’s episode, check out AfterEllen later today.

I agree with you. If the writers don't want Bo and Lauren to be together, they should have come up with a better excuse then this old tired reason. As Virginia Bolt pointed out in her recap, this repeative reason (life expectancy) is sounding more and more like ageism. Your only valuable if you young and beautiful.

Other then that, why do you think Hades disguised himself as Bo to seduce Tamsin ? The Exec Producer MG confirmed it was Hades in disguise and not Bo being controlled by him. So what was his motivation to "rape" Tamsin ?? Another offspring for himself perhaps ??

Why can't we have shows to watch that have steamy lesbian relationships, happy endings, and leave us feeling really really good? I mean really, WTF? It pisses me off when lesbian relationships in the shows I watch end badly. I hope there's a Bo and Lauren reunion in later episodes to try to make up for the annoyance of the no-good-reason separation. I read your Lost Girl Season 5 Episode 12 recap at After Ellen. So Lauren was trying to turn herself into a succubus? The episode sounds very complicated. Is attempting to make sense of it all going to be a writers afterthought or is there some deep plot we don't know about, or are we supposed to keep scratching our heads and wondering about things that don't seem to make sense? Now that I read your review I'm totally confused. I'm but sure will probably watch it multiple times when it comes on NetFlix. I hope I can figure it all out then (if that's possible) and that there will be subsequent episodes that yield a lot of hot and happy lesbian relationships. Cripes, reading the ending of episode 5x12. Could a network executive have hired a homophobic script re-writer just to annoy us all? I hope not.

yep, I was pissed as hell when Lauren turned n just left after saying that whole nonsensical stuff about protector/healer crap..
I really suspect that the writers are planning to sink every single ships in LG as their final 'gift'..

I am really tired of being jerked-off by TV series that include a lesbian romantic relationship (different than a lesbian sex relationship) in their storyline -- then pull the rug out from under it for no logical reason except that producers suddenly felt a homophobic chill run up their spines. As a lesbian herself, and this can now be discussed with frankness because she outed herself on a public arena, Zoie Palmer must be more than a little aware of how often lesbian relationships on television are killed off, terminally ill-ed off, guilt-ed off, bed death-ed off, family obligated off, too much to handle off, and any "lesbian has to go" cliche you can think of. If when all is said and done, it turns out that she tooled her Lost Girl fans into not turning off the show on its last legs, I will have lost my respect and admiration of her. I truly mean this.

If Bo ends up with Dyson I'm going to be so mad.

I have actually lost interest in the show with this season. The story is impossible to follow and confusing and for me uninteresting. I really miss the Kenzi dynamic and solving mysteries. When they tried doing this story arc that is supposed to flow season to season, it got weird. I think the show peaked with season 3.

we struggled through the storylines episode after episode, what did we get in return? eternal pain and sorrow. i say we return the favour to whoever come up with this cruel and disrepectful idea of breaking up. let them feel the eternal pain and sorrow in the rest of their lives. stop watching the rest of lost girl.

I have come to the conclusion that Bo and Lauren reunite in the last episode. Why ?? Because of the Freedom to Love necklace Lauren gave Bo. It has 2 women reclining on a round object on opposite sides from each other. The actors have said the necklace is supposed to come into play again. I think they also dropped a hint about it in this episode. In the courtroom when Bo was talking about these 2 partners, she said that the were "two sides of the same coin". This is the yin and the yang and this is what Bo and Lauren will represent (Human and Fea)

"Yin / Yang definition : Two halves that together complete wholeness. Yin and yang are also the starting point for change."

I think this is how they defeat Hades and ... Yes, this breakup is temporary IMO.

in the light of causing so much pain and sorrow among the fans, i don't understand how the cast and crew of lost girl not saying even one word of consolation to their fans. the showrunners of orphans black apologise for killing delphine.

not only we should stop watching the rest episodes of lost girl, we should stop rewatch them in whatever channel featuring lost girl, and stop buying their dvds or whatever products they come up with.

People always wonder why the lgtb community is so angry. It's because we are always treated like shit not only in real life but also by a show we are willing to support despite all it's flaws. You guys think Bo and Lauren shouldn't be together, ok, just don't bring them back together. One break-up is traumatic enough, but make us go through another one because you guys are running out of storyline, this is torture. This is a crime against humanity. To all the showrunner in the world, if you don't have the decency to respect and have compassion to our community, please leave us alone.

Right, let the showrunner knows we won't watch lost girl or any of his show anymore.

I stopped watching Lost Girl pretty far back. Things that happened that were completely unacceptable? Getting rid of Kenzi. Turning Tamsin into some lovesick teenager. Continuing the farce that is Docubus together and apart over and over. The writing is just awful. The plot is like, what are they thinking? Regardless of who Bo ends up with this has turned into a complete shit show. *sigh* It's too bad too. You know when they started with the triangle of Dyson/Bo/Lauren I was kind of interested because of the fae/human dynamic but when they introduced Tamsin I actually got excited because not only was she beautiful and interesting and tortured and all the things you could want in a character, she and Bo had great chemistry and could have been so good together what with Bo just loving the taste of that awesome Valkyrie chi. Then they turned the character of Tamsin into some simpering little girl.. *sigh* I still love the actors on this show but TPTB have fubar'ed Lost Girl soo badly that I pretty much only read the recaps and check out the youtubes for any sexy bits.

Can somebody please write an article on how Lost Girl turn from a wonder to a disaster? Thank you very much.

I don't think the breakup is temporary as Tristen said. The best case scenario is Bo and Lauren going to form a Bo and Kenzi working relationship, the worst case scenario is one or both of them will die. Zoie Palmer said in her TVjunkie interview that not everyone will like what happen.
