Gayzzoli Ahoy

Our totally gay non-gay gals returned this week. And I, dutifully, have returned with your Rizzoli & Isles Subtext Recaps. I do this because, well, it has to be done. Also because the show is so much more fun when you tune out the ridiculous romantic scenarios with dudes and just enjoy the chemistry between the women. Or, like at my house, have your cable suddenly cut out anytime Jane or Maura inappropriately touch and/or awkwardly touch with someone of the opposite sex. Of course, the show makes my job easy. And Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander make it even easier. And the promo videos – be they behind the scenes of photoshoots or previews from TNT themselves – make it the easiest. I mean, come on.

Check out the season's first Gayzzoli Recap a little later today on AfterEllen. UPDATE: Read the first #Gayzzoli Recap of the season here. Just like riding a bike. A big, gay bike.

Wait, that girls will be girls thing is not a fan vid? It's actually from TNT? Now that's just queer baiting, I'm sorry.

TNT out did themselves with the 'roll your eyes' promo. If that isn't a love letter to Jane and Maura then I don't know what is.

Snarker we gotta talk. Do you know why I enjoy your writing? Because you are entertaining and damn good at calling people out on their bullshit. what is your deal with this show. Are they paying you? What is it? You are the person who should be leading the fight against such obvious queer baiting. And this is the most blatant form of queer baiting on TV today, and yet, you promote this show more than any other. This is not about subtext vs main text. It's about respect. Your recaps, the gayzzoli hash tag you created, your interviews with the show runner and cast, you are going out of your way to promote this show within this community knowing it doesn't help us, and knowing at the end of the day the success of this show harms us, because its making it seem to the entertainment industry that this is what our community wants, and its not. We want a will they/won't they between the title characters on a TV show to be the same sex, of course we do, but that is not what this is, and you know it.
