My Weekend Crush

So I don’t even watch “The 100,” nor will I probably start (though, hey, you never know – maybe they’ll invent more hours in a day). But I love this video because it perfectly encapsulates how gay women watch TV with any kind of lesbian or bisexual female content. Lesbihonest, that’s totally, totally us. Happy weekend, all.

p.s. Though, seriously, should I be watching “The 100?”

You definitely should be starting watching the show. It has a bunch of great attributes:
strong and well developed female characters, great writing (they totally keep you on your toes), the hair-&makeup department is so good it should be nomitated for an Emmy, the CGI works incredibly well for their budget AND the whole crew really takes to twitter! It's so fun! Especially when the showrunner and William Shattner! start to live tweet.
They also encourage fans to do all kinds of fan projects. It's awesome how they reach out to their audience.

All in all, fantastic show that should get more recognition. The only negative thing I have to mention are the first 4 episodes of season 1, but that's because the creators had to work around network restrictions. After they got the ok from their bosses the show became good. It's as simple as that.

I can't wait for season 3 and if you decide to give the show a go there are only 29 episodes you have to catch up on until season 3 starts in the fall.

I can't imagine that you could regret it.

Oh, I forgot to mention the costume department. Also Emmy-worthy!

I enjoyed S1 but, wow, once we got into S2 it completely overtook me. Strong female characters, good character development, serious issues and *that* kiss... Yeah, definitely one to add to the list. Also, they're only short seasons!

Snarker: Absolutely. Yes. You need to watch this!! As others have mentioned, the characters are well developed, with an abundance of strong, kick-ass women. The plot lines are well written, and the pace of the episodes keep you on the edge of your chair. I couldn't stop watching....Get ready for the binge-Netflix!

Yes! I bingewatch both seasons in 2 weeks. Ships aside, girls rule in this show.

Best action and adventure show on television right now. The women lead and are badass. The acting is very good. Lexa and Clarke had the most interesting relationship dynamic on TV this season. Everyone should at least give this show a try, because preconceived notions about its supposedly juvenile content or the callow nature of TV science fiction as a genre are just shot to pieces by The 100.

You definitely need to watch The 100 - for all reasons mentioned above, as well as because the cast is multi-ethnic and amazing. The acting is great, and women rule on this show.

It's a very good show. Just don't get discouraged if you find the 1st season a bit slow. The 2nd season more than makes up for it.

Honestly, I started watching for the queerness, but I would enjoy it even without it because of the diversity, strong female characters, and my penchant for dystopian/post-apocalyptic stories.

Absolutely! Immediately. You are missing out on the 5 most kick-ass lady characters on TV right now!

Hell yes! To add to all of the above, it also features one of the most complex female (or any type) lead characters I've seen so far (on tv, in movies and even in books, tbh). If you can stand the YA elements and sound in space (ungh), give it a try and, as others have already said, bear with the show until episode 5.;)

Actually, There are probably 6 kick ass lady characters: Clarke, Lexa, Octavia, Raven, Abby, and Indra. And at least five of them are returning for season 3 this fall. Just waiting on beautiful, complicated Lexa now.

I love reading your column here - I know that if there's something I'll want to watch you'll undoubtedly find and post something about it here (and on After Ellen). I don't know anything about "The 100" but I'm loving reading the reviews from your commenters. It was reading about The L Word here that convinced me I should watch it. After it became one of the only things I was watching on Netflix (besides Lost Girl)
I finally ordered The L Word: The Complete Series (25 Disc Set) from Target. I sure hope they do a reboot of that.
I will definitely try watching "The 100" when it gets to NetFlix if not before.

Start watching! I thought about starting with season 2 to get to the "good stuff", but then I decided to give it a go from the start. When I finally reached the Lexa episodes I realised that they are not even the best part about The 100 (They are pretty good thought.). :-) It's an amazing show not only when it comes to the kick-ass women. You should definitely give it a try.

PantyBuns, if you live in the U.S., the 100 season 1 is available on Netflix, and season 2 is available on Amazon streaming video. If you live in Canada, both seasons are available on Netflix.

Sweet crush, but I was hoping for Marilyn Mosby myself!
