Tina Fey Thursday

Sniffle… Whimper… Sob! This is the first Thursday without even the prospect of a fresh, funny new “30 Rock.” Why? Because the show ran out of pre-writers strike episodes last week. (Though, wasn’t that kooky “Midnight Train to Georgia” sing-along a perfectly absurd way to end the season, albeit unintentionally?) I could lament for pages and pages (well, technically, screens and screen) about why this makes me sad and how I will miss my weekly 30-minute dose of all things Tina Fey. But, instead, I am going to be a brave little toaster and keep my chin held high. This faux courageous chin elevating has been made considerably easier by the release yesterday of the trailer for Tina’s new comedy, “Baby Mama.” I won’t spoil the fun for you, I’ll just let you watch. [See it in hi-def here.]

Oh my God, right? I mean, I was trying so hard not to laugh out loud at work yesterday, my whole body shook. Violently. The chocolate or poop test? I think I almost peed my pants! And the childproof toilet? Well, I think might have actually peed my pants on that one.

Suffice it to say, this thing looks funny and you can’t beat the cast: Tina, Amy Poehler, Sigourney Weaver and Maura Tierney? Am I a little worried they might have shown all the funniest bits in the trailer? Perhaps, but this is Tina Fey we’re talking about. I trust there is plenty of hilarious left in the tank.

OK, now you’re probably thinking, “Why so confident, Ms. Snarker?” Or, possibly, “I’m still hungry, I wonder if any of last night’s Cheetos feel in between the couch cushions?” Either way, my faith in Tina and Amy’s ability to bring the funny can be summed up in two words: sexy tennis.

[Hat tip, Jules!]

Come April 25, I’m going to strap on some Depends and run to the theater. Come to think of it, they should sell those things at the concessions stand. I mean, no one can hold it long enough to finish a movie after drinking one of their ocean-sized sodas. OK, this post has gone to a weird place. But, you get my drift. “Baby Mama” or bust! You get the popcorn, I’ll get the rubber pants.

Oh Lordy! Here comes the monotony: TINA FEY! TINA FEY! YAY! YAY! YAY! Ok, I sincerely apologize for that guys but I swear it's uncontrollable; it's a reflex action.

I second, third, fourth, fifth..... yadda, your blind confidence in Tina Fey. I have no fear that there's a lot more funny in the tank, bank, whatever. Ms. Fey has proved it time and time and time.... again. And Tina Fey and Amy together! Oh hell yeah.... I got the popcorn.

One other reason why I am hopelessly devoted to Tina - isn't it just cool, great, wonderful, yadda.. how she hooks up with her fellow SNL pals! It's a wonderful thing!

I feel that reflex thingy coming on so I'll just shut up and sit down now.

P.S. Ms. S., you've just totally made my day. Woke up not feeling that "get-up-and-go" but Tina Fey first thing is way better than coffee. Thank you!

Love the part of the trailer with the baby proofing of the toilet!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels they need protection while watching anything Tina Fey related. Super excited for the new movie and have you seen the "ham sketch?"
So good. The "Midnight Train to Georgia" was genius. I think it's my fave episode of the season yet... God I hope there's more in the near future. I seriously don't know what I'm going to do with myself tonight.... I guess I'll just watch my copy of the 30 Rock DVD. Which can be purchased at your local video and retail electronic stores...and at Target. Maybe I'll go to Target tonight...I'm running low on Depends

I'd have Tina Fey's baby any day! Wow, did I just say that out loud? :-)

Alien Queen - I know exactly what you mean. I typed that out on the AE Thread and thought about it some then edited my comment. Mind you, I typed it in bold and capitalized letter at that. And in as much as I have absolutely no shame when it comes to Tina Fey, I edited anyway *hangs head in shame*.

I especially love the look of "b-u-s-t-e-d" on Amy's face when Tina catches her on the sink :-D

Thanks for that. It totally made me feel better after that Chris Matthews post.

Man, that poop test was so funny! I think an alternate title could be "Yes, They Went There"
