And now, for your moment of zen. I moved to California more than 25 years ago from the Midwest and never looked back. Yeah, this state is big and complicated and so stupid expensive. But I never want to leave because, well, it’s California. (The greater United States, uh, that’s another matter.) Hearing Amanda Seyfried’s lovely dulcimer version of Joni Mitchell’s “California” makes me fall in love all over again – both with her butterfly-wing vibrato and this equally stupidly gorgeous Golden State.
