I’ll admit to feeling some ambivalence toward the upcoming “Xena” reboot. On the one hand, holy shit that’s fantastic. On the other hand, wait, isn’t this from the guy who wrote that episode of “The 100?” On the one hand, he has promised to “fully exploring a relationship that could only be shown subtextually in first-run syndication in the 1990s.” On the other hand, why is 48-year-old Lucy Lawless too old to play Xena again when 73-year-old Harrison Ford is just fine to play both Han Solo AND Indiana Jones again? Like I was saying, ambivalence.
The one thing I know for sure is the reboot will undoubtedly not have the same gloriously cheesy “whoosh” sound affects whenever characters snap their heads. Well, at least we will always have the memories – and this video.

And what memories they are :)
I really really really hope they don't screw this up
And, since they won't use Lawless, how about gwendoline "brienne of tarth " christie
Thanks, this is great!
Thanks, this is great!
That video made a rough day bearable. Thank you. 😊
I'm looking forward to the Xena reboot. Lucy will probably do cameos. Let's remember her husband is one of the creators of Xena.
Have you seen Lucy's Show on Netflix called "Warrior Women" ? It's good.
This is just fabulous - thank you so much for sharing it. I suddenly feel the urge to go and watch lots of Xena episodes...:)
I love the whooshes! I'm also ambivalent about the reboot since I'd still like the original to revisit the traumatic finale.
Delightful! Thanks
I remain unconvinced that anyone but LL can bring honor to Xena's warrior call (ululating). But we shall see...
i watched xena live and still watch all seasons on the regular, its just one of my favourite shows, and i guess i should be more of an optimist but i really dont see anyone capturing lightening in a bottle again the way this show did. Ren and Flawless are incredible actors and had tremendous chemistry on top of talent, pretty rare combo imo. agree completely that not using the same actors is a major gaffe though i bet LL would hate ramping back up to the level of action/stunts needed, or might say no, i can't believe its not part of the campaign and pitch to bring this character back. they're straight up idiots not to try and talk her into it! she IS xena. this show gave me strong female characters to look up as a young kid and showed such a positive supportive relationship (i didn't catch subtext as a child - it didn't matter to me!) the kind of friendships i never saw on tv (always bitchy backstabbing jealous girls who only talked about dudes). to me this show was a hugely important part of my childhood so i'll probably skip a reboot, its too dear.
You're great, Dorothy, period.
Thank you, great news and thoughts.
I know I'm late to this post but
1. Great Video!
2. Bruce Campbell wasn't seen as too old to play Ash in "Ash vs the Evil Dead" either, craziness
3. Lucy Lawless is still as hot as ever. Did no one see her on Salem or Spartacus?
