Away We Go
The trailer feels a bit like “Garden State” for the thirtysomething set. And the cast? Maya Rudolph, Allison Janney, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Melanie Lynskey and Catherine O’Hara. Now that is how you properly butter my popcorn, Hollywood. The Timer
Anya! Anya! Anya! The criminally funny Emma Caulfield (who in case you haven’t clued in yet was Anya on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) looks fantastic in this Timex meets true love story. Though, thank God those things don’t actually exist because it would be yet another electronic device I’d have to show my mother how to make stop blinking 12:00.Paper Heart
A cute, geeky, glasses-wearing Asian-American leading actress? Say no more, I’m already there.Julie & Julia
Fine, so this isn’t a romantic comedy per se. And, sure, I’ve already slopped sugar all over this trailer. But it’s got women and food and to me that’s a love story for the ages.Bonus: Where the Wild Things Are
I know you've already seen it, but watch it again. Love is wild. God, I can’t wait.
they all look fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteJust as a little side tidbit...the doctor in the "Timer" preview is ALSO from Buffy! Fun!
You know, I'm a lover of romantic comedies from way back ... hell, if it's set in NYC and/or stars Meg Ryan, I'm totally there.
ReplyDeleteBut, I'm getting really sick of scrabbling to scraps when it comes to what's out there, even when it comes to the good stuff like you have here, in terms women falling in love with women.
I mean, all we get is actresses/characters that we love, who then (naturally, since we are dealing with heterosexual romantic comedies here) fall for some random straight-acting-gay-boy-looking metrosexual heterosexual guy.
It's getting to the point where I won't even watch these anymore because I don't want to invest emotion in characters that I know aren't going to remotely do anything relevant to me.
OMG...what a great way to start my day! I want to see them all! And my wild thing wants to say thank you. :)
ReplyDeletethanks snarker! fun start to the AM.
ReplyDeleteI hope the wild things is 1/2 as good as that trailer. It really gets me!
You HAVE to see this. It's Obama reading 'Where the Wild Things Are' to some kids:

Omg I've been so excited for "Away We Go" since I saw the preview when I went to see "Sunshine Cleaning."
ReplyDeleteI even put it in my summer movie preview a few weeks ago (along with some of my guilty pleasures): http://reallypapi.blogspot.com/search/label/Away%20we%20Go
I wish I would have seen the trailer for "Paper Heart" earlier because it totally would have been in there too. It looks so cute!
I want to see at least three of those now. Thanks a lot. :P
ReplyDeleteWords cannot describe how much MORE I'm excited for Julie & Julia now, though. Seriously. I'm giddy.
Love IS wild... (good stuff)
