Tank Top Tuesday

Music makes the world go around. Wait, or is it love? Oh, damn, I think it’s actually money. Whatever, close enough. Music can lift us up. It can inspire, transform, enlighten. Heck, it can just make us feel like tapping our toes. And, if we’re really lucky, it’s sung by hotties wearing tank tops. What? Just because music is deep doesn’t mean I can’t be shallow. So with that I give you Tank Top Tuesday: Music Edition. Everyone loves a rock star.
Missy Higgins, “Steer”Did I ever tell you about how I met Missy earlier this year after one of her shows? She was very sweet and very, very pretty. Hey, don't be jealous. Actually, no, totally be jealous. [Hat tip, Ching!]
Brandi Carlile, “Turpentine”Tank, vest, tats, tour with the Indigo Girls. No further comment.
Kaki King, “Playing With Pink Noise”Magic fingers, magic fingers!
Alicia Keyes, “Superwoman”All she needs is a big red “S” on her tank top.
Northern State, “Better Already”It's a bird! It's a plane! It's awesome chicks rapping with rainbows. [Hat tip, Scribegrrrl!]
Rilo Kiley, “The Moneymaker”Yep, porn stars. You’re welcome.
Bebe, “Siempre me quedara”I have no idea what she is saying. Good thing “wet tank top” needs no translation. [Hat tip, Grinmistress!]
L.P., “Good With You/Cling To Me”It's like Shane and Slash had a curly-haired lovechild. What can I say, I'm a sucker for a gal who stops by to say “hi.” Plus, gosh, that “Wasted” song sounds awfully familiar.

  2. Yay tank tops.. Missy Higgins has to be the cuttest of this particular tuesday delivery.

As far as my spanish goes, Bebe sings about her tiny body, slowly turning into a river or something, the rain that will leave her wet, the voice of the sea, a flower that grows inside of her, and a bunch of other stuff that don't make much sense to me...
    Does it really matter ?

  3. This was awesome. Tank tops *and* rock stars?! Swoon.

(But this one is probably still my favorite tank top Tuesday. It's all about Mary-Louise and her man pants.)

Kaki King is absolutely amazing. She's a 5'1" powerhouse of musical magic (ever seen her play the drums?!)... okay, AND hot. AND gay. Perfect.

Bebe sings a bitter-sweet song about loosing the love of your life and surviving... I'll try to translate:
    how can I explain
that you break in 1000 pieces
    the corners of my bones
That there are fallen the schemes of my life
    now, when everything was perfect
and something more, you blow my mind
and the gravity protects this little body of mine, that's becoming river
Its hard to open my eyes
    and I do it slowly
in case i find you close,
i keep your memories as the best secret,
how sweet it was to have you inside me,
there is a piece of light in this darkness,to borrow me serenity,
    time heals everything,
    The tempest and the calmness...
    [refrain]
    I'll always have
the soft voice of the seas
    breathe again
the rain that will fall down over this body and it will wet
the flower that grows in me
    and i'll laugh again
and everyday, for a second, i'll think of you again and in the soft voice of the seas (etc...)

    I'll always have

In among the fantabulous pics of tanks, tats and nips...I do enjoy your conversational style of writing...along with the good punchline that causes me to need to clean my screen yet again. :)

Ahn... Dorothy... I enjoyed the videos very much. L.P. indeed looks like Shane and Slash's lovechild. But I believe there's Bernadette Peters in there somewhere...

Oh! I didn't know that our Missy Higgins had been successful in the US! She's the biggest female talent in Aus at the moment. Just love that she sings with her accent!

There was "controversy" (if you can call it that, pfft) about her song "The Special Two" when it was released. Apparently it was written about/for her lesbian lover...and the only evidence to support this claim? Well the lyrics contain no pronouns to indicate that she's singing about a male. Thought you might find that interesting.

    Queeny.

PS. Yes, yes, excellent taste in music Ms Snarker.
