Just in case you have not had your Monday morning cry yet, here is Michael Sam receiving the news her has been drafted by the St. Louis Rams, making him the first out gay player in the NFL. Bonus for kissing his boyfriend, Vito, live on ESPN afterward. Guess I have to root for the Rams now.
Right now his jersey is #2 is sales behind "Johhny Football". Finally the NFL and the world will see that the gay dollar has power.
ReplyDeleteCongrates Michael !!
Go Team Gay!
ReplyDeleteOutselling the number one pick!
Unfortunately, this doesn't guarantee that he will play or even make the team. Still, it's great that an NFL team extended it's hand to an out gay player.
ReplyDeleteStill rooting for the Broncos as a team (they said they would have no problem with an out gay player on the team). But otherwise, I will root for Sam and the Rams...heh (That sounds a tad like a bad porno title or maybe a bad tribute band of some sort...heh).
ReplyDeleteHis joy and relief was wonderful to watch on the news. Could really saw how much pressure he felt until the moment his name was announced.
ReplyDeleteI just wish that he was more of an NFL player skills wise. He looked pretty bad in the Senior Bowl that he played in, and didn't look that great at the Combine. And he's really undersized for the DE position, and the Rams are chock full of an amazing D-Line (Not to mention I'm pretty sure they took a D-Line guy in the first or second round maybe). So there are some guys ahead of him.
ReplyDeleteHe's not just gonna get to make the team without a fight. But he does have a ton of drive and raw talent I think, you can tell that from the College Tape, so I hope that he sucks it all in, learns from the guys like Chris Long, and gets better and makes it in the NFL. I guess we'll see.
Oh, and Go Patriots!
