Whatever your political, religious or sexual orientation you’ve got to admire the moxie of newly elected Rep. Kyrsten Sinema. Not only is she the first out bisexual representative ever elected to Congress, she also the 113th Congress’ only member to identify religiously as “unaffiliated” and was its only current member sworn in on a copy of the U.S. Constitution instead of a bible or other religious work. Oh, and she is a pro-gay marriage and pro-women’s rights legislator from the crazy mccrazypants conservative state of Arizona. Like I said, moxie. And I didn’t even mention that her family was homeless for two years when she was growing up. Also, I really like her, um, glasses. Yeah, glasses. Happy weekend, all.

ReplyDeleteYeah, her.....glasses were the first thing I noticed.
ReplyDeleteWe need more people like her on Brazilian Congress as well. We are ruled by the bible here (though no one would dare to admit it out loud) and it's really hard to preserve the most basic rights straight citizens have. It's sad and scary :/
ReplyDeleteps: I'm not used to right in English so, sorry for any eventual grammar shame :P
And by "right" I mean "write"...damn, here's the shame
ReplyDeleteCamila don't feel bad the right wing wack jobs here would make the taliban look libral if they got the majority.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what anybodies religious beliefs are they don't belong in Gov't.
Men and religion the 2 biggest problems in the worl today and in the past. The only reason women aren't included in that is because women have no power...
AND she graduated from college when she was 18, and has been described as the "smartest person in the Arizona legislature" when she was working there. She's an awesome person to have in Congress! Go, Arizona (or that district) for electing her!
ReplyDeleteShe is fat...so big boobs? FF
ReplyDeleteWow! We could use 434 more Congress people 100 Senators and en entire Executive branch and Judiciary just like her! How rare that a Congressperson takes their oath of office seriously - to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. I agree with Julie. She's AWESOME! I'd vote for her for President in a heartbeat. On a totally irrelevant note I think she looks hot too. That someone that cool could be elected in Arizona should have made the front pages and been the lead story around the country and the world.
ReplyDeleteI love the way her necklace contrasts with her collar. espcially love the collar...
ReplyDeleteI hate to always be "that girl" on Dorothy's lovely blog, but:
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure she's not just "pro-gay marriage" but in fact "pro same-sex marriage," which would not exclude bisexuals (and pans, and the other non-monosexual orientations) like herself from marriage laws.
Also, on a not-politically-relevant note: what Panty Buns said. She's a hottie.
I'm so happy to see Kyrsten as your weekend crush and so happy that she is my congresswoman! Our district and state are indeed lucky.
