Just gun it

I was traveling on Sunday when the glorious U.S. Women’s Open final went down. So I missed it. I missed the whole thing. I missed the forehands and backhands and volleys and serves. But mostly, I missed the arm porn. So much arm porn. The match between Australian Samantha Stosur and American Serena Williams featured the most impressive gun show outside or an NRA convention – and considerably more sexy. So, such an awesome display of muscley goodness deserves its own post. While I can’t turn back time to watch the match, I sure can make up for lost time. Welcome to the gun show, kittens. Pick your favorite weapon: Sam or Serena?

Forehands
Backhands
Serves
Overheads
Two-Handed
Agony/Ecstasy
Victory Celebration
Everyone’s A WinnerReally, with a display like this I think we all took home a trophy.

  1. Very true, Ms. Snarker. We all win.

Did not need another reason to love Australia.

What you also missed was the downright embarrassing display of poor sportsmanship by Serena. Girl needs to step it up a notch, professionally speaking. If she were my child, I would have slapped her hand and sent her to bed without dinner! It takes more than sexy arms to win me over. Personally, I wish you had left her out of your post entirely.

Rumor has it that Stosur's guns play for our team...

Team Stosur, even if I'm an American. It was wonderful to see Sam keep it together in a tough, raucous situation; the kind of thing where she hasn't in the past. I'm so very, very tired of Serena's (a certain irony in that name) churlish, childish behavior. As she's nearly 30 one can only hope with little expectation that she'll ever gain the grace and decency that inspire the notion of fair play and sportsman/sportswoman/ship. Even if she can't, she's been a pro since God was a boy, there's no excuse for her not knowing the rules by now. There's more to professional conduct than cashing the check. I'm really sorry that her health was so profoundly threatened, but it really hasn't been the transformative experience she's claimed. She's the same old spoiled brat and she's just glad to be making the money again. It wasn't a time of growth, just a temporary derailing to her self-entitlement train. I doubt her anger issues will ever improve so long as she remains an overgrown child in a voluptuous body. It's very much tied to her emotional immaturity. Such an embarrassment.

  6. Stosur really deserved to win, she had a great tournament and she played perfect in the final. It was awesome!

And yeah, I can't stop looking at her arms when she's playing...

  8. As an Aussie, I think Sam totally wins. And I second the rumour - word on the street here is that she totally plays for our team. That makes it a double win for me!

Look at Sam's well manicured fingernails (as opposed to Serena's long scary nails) and the length of her ring finger. You, Sam definitely plays for our team!

  10. GREAT GUNS!!!! It seems to me we are talking about two different things regarding Serena. To my knowledge, this is the 2nd incident in about as many years. She hasn't exibited the kind of unsportsman like pattern of behavior of a John McRw. Second, the outburst seem to be rooted in a highly competive peron playing hurt and being frustrated that her performance isn't up to her standards vs. hostility toward her better performing opponent.

  12. Jennifer from Pitt I totally agree. Serena has become an egomaniac. If you were the best you would have won. I don't even like tennis but appreciate arm candy when I see it!! Dorothy keep up the Snark.

  13. Sam Stosur is a marvellous ambassador for Australia, I was so proud to watch one of our sports stars display grace, mental strength and good sportsmanship. And a great set of guns. I mean, seriously great. You could see her abs and obliques through the Lacoste dress too! COR!
A bit embarrassing for Serena, however, who acted like a spoiled tennis brat, saying horrible, personally hurtful things to one of the world's most respected chair umpires.
Really though, the announcement of all Serena's cash winnings before moving on to the US Open trophy demonstrates the crass new world of professional sport that fosters attitudes exactly like Serena's.

Ah! Is that true? Sam *pinged* for me. She was the news of the day back home. Serena.. really?!!I cant imagine Martina, Chris Evert or Steffi Graf ever acting like this.

  15. Sam was the better player.
Serena lost loads of respect from many ppl...and the way she did her interviews after that..show that she 1)doesnt realize how rude and unprofessional she was and 2)doesnt regret her behavior ... seems like it was just smtg normal...
Sam Stosur on the other hand... and Simonne Morrow... http://www.freeimagehosting.net/2a97d

  16. And what's worse: thwe measly $2,000 fine from the tennis peeps just sends the wrong message.

It's less than a smack on the wrist. Shame on them.

LOL Serena has 2 bad days in 2 years at work and she's some demon of tennis. Alright. I guess John McEnroe was a paragon of virtue.

She's not hurting for US Open wins, she'll be alright. I totally understand why she no longer cares to apologize, explain her actions/conduct or step to the tune of some tennis fans. The response to her is such BS and hypocritical.
It must irritate people that this woman treats tennis so casually, almost like a hobby, and still makes it to the finals.
Congrats to that other lady, I just heard about since she faced Serena Williams.
