Oh, Angela Robinson, please come make a lesbian TV series that has nothing to do with pumps or pants or clams or IFC. At its best, “The L Word” was about a group of friends who actually did all those things in that horrendous theme song that made our ears bleed. It was pure fiction, but could actually feel real. And sometimes, just sometimes, we even saw ourselves.
So in honor of the crazy Pride Weekend I just had (i.e. stringing coherent words together at this moment = hard), here are a few of my favorite friend moments from a show that spawned that other show that only makes me long for that first show even more.
Come back, Alice. Say funny things like “poopy-shit” and “uh-uh” and make us all want to be your best friend again.
ah!
ReplyDeleteSome days, I just can't help but love you, Ms. Snarker.
ReplyDeleteI miss funny (pre season 5) Alice!!!
ReplyDeleteahhh, good times, good times, and thanks so much, Ms.Snarker, for reminding us of them! No matter HOW much IC effed-up "our stories",those "framily" moments made it all worthwhile. That picture of the "3 muff-ka-teers" is one of my favorites; so nice to see it again. Yeah, Angela Robinson, where ARE you when we need your humor/skills so much?
ReplyDeleteAgreed.....agreed....100 F'ing percent agreed.
ReplyDeleteAt first I was like "oh no an L word posting" then I watched that cell phone opening scene! Brilliant and funny. Great!
ReplyDeleteThat show had so many great moments. And yes that cast really was great.
Now I want to start watching it from the beginning... I miss the 1st season!
ReplyDeleteLOL...SNORT... Yeah, that's what kept us coming back. Even when it seemed awful sometimes...LOL Happy Pride!
ReplyDeleteDS you are so on point. The reason so many of us turned on IFC was because we became heartbroken idealists. These little gems made us continue watching, even as the show started to devolve. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteAngela Robinson- love her!! It would be great if she could do something. I stumbled across a pilot-"Nikki and Nora" over the weekend. Do you know it? I believe this show could work now.
dorothy, when you are right you are so so so right.
ReplyDeleteoh wow...you managed to remind me that there were quite a few moments when TLW was just the bees knees: when it demonstrated the quintessential dynamics of lesbian friendships that are so unique and sweet about our community.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
What went wrong IC? Did you go all Hollywood and lose your way?
I miss L Word.
ReplyDeleteOh Snarker great timing! I just got back from a weekend of hearing Leisha & Kate talking about saying things like Poopy-shit (they said it!) Kate Leisha & Mei were at the L7 LWord Convention in Birmingham UK.
ReplyDeleteStart planning your trip now Dorothy! Next convention has Jennifer Beals & others in Brighton UK for L8 - we miss it too but we have each other! You really should come over & join in!
You just made my day with this, seriously! Makes me wanna rewatch some of the good L Word episodes! :D
ReplyDeleteYou know, I always think of the L Word as something terrible that I watched out of obligation and devotion to a couple characters/stories that I connected with... this reminds me that there really WERE things about it that were redeeming, if you could see through the plot holes and around the minefields set up by IFC. And, of course, now I want to rewatch the good parts...
ReplyDeletehope springs eternal but more like pour some out for the homies.
ReplyDeleteds!
ReplyDeleteI found this~
when I was searching something else.

Alice was and forever will be the best character from the L word.
ReplyDeleteThat Charlie's Angel scene was friggin redic! I literally laughed out loud:) Jenny broke the gaydar gun:)
ReplyDeleteIn the Charlies Angel's, I realized Tina's Randy Dean getup reminds me of Rachel Maddow. :P
ReplyDeleteThanks for great memories
ReplyDeleteJeez.. talking about procrastination. I just put my entire life on hold to watch all those videos. I must say, The Lara Perkins Mission is such a classic! HAHA!
