thankyouverymuch

We're T-minus one day away from total food comas here in the states. But this year I thought I would give thanks before we gorged ourselves on turkey or tofurkey or – god, forbid – turducken (note to food marketers, never start the name of your dish with “turd”). With that here are a few of the things I am truly thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Jennifer Beals' ArmsLadies, if those don't make you gay then you're truly a lost cause and good luck with the fellas.

Tina Fey's PalinIs political satire essential in a thriving democracy? You betcha.

Rachel Maddow's BrainBoys may not, but girls sure do make passes at girls who wear glasses. Especially the smart ones.

Your Reading HabitsThank you all for stopping by my tiny corner of the interwebs. Thank you for following my blog. Thank you for sending me emails (which I am still working through, please continue to forgive my tardiness). Thank you for being so lovely and smart and funny and generally awesome. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

So, now it's your turn. Anything you're particularly thankful for this year? Let's hear it. Oh, and pass the gravy. See you Friday. Happy gobble gobble, all.

  3. Dear Ms. Snarker,
Thank you for bringing a new dimension to my mornings. On even the most dreary or nondescript of days, when you flicker into my brain, a smile comes to my lips and I say "Oh yeah, Dorothy"!
Thanks for being the smart, zany and wonderful being that you are, and mostly for sharing that with the rest of us mortals.
    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I thank my parents for immigrating to Canada, finally settling in Toronto--and not say, Arkansas. No disrespect to people from Arkansas, it probably isn't for me.

Also, I'm glad I'm not allergic to dairy products, or any foods for that matter.

Lastly, I'm thankful for the Internet and blogs like this one.

  5. No, THANK YOU, Ms. Snarker! I read you every day and love the blog--it's really well-designed and oh-so-many pics of the ladies!

Other things I am thankful for: my wife, our dear friends, K and K, that we nicknamed the Unicorns for their magical appearance in our lives, and my garden. Oh, and wine and good food. And the public library. Brazil. Music. Gin and tonics on a hot summer day....

  7. As an English gal and one that really really loves turkey and stuffing... I'm always so jealous of Thanksgiving. It's not fair that we over the pond only get one excuse a year to stuff our faces with large amounts of turkey, stuffing, gravy, yorkshire puddings... mmmmmm yorks puddings... where was I? Oh yes, it's not fair! But anyhoo I am always thankful for those arms and hot women in glasses. Have a great thanksgiving Ms. Snarker :)

  10. I am thankful for your recommendations, without which I'd still be in the dark on 30 Rock AND Rachel Maddow. And for giving me the courage to begin blogging (I know, dear goddess, not another blogger), but I see it as more of an on-line journal, and no one reads it anyway, so it actually is rather private still.

I am thankful there is a space on the 'internets' that agrees with my sensibilities. Any lady that has a soft spot for Detective Olivia Benson and writes smart and funny blogs is a lady after my heart. Thank you for writing this blog and helping me feel not so alone in my thoughts ridiculous crushes.

I am thankful for laughter...it has been something that I have needed so often this past year. I am grateful for the guffaws where I could get them and here are but a few of the people and places that come to mind...

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on SNL...Tina Fey's 30 Rock. Ellen DeGeneres' daily dose of humor on her show. On the web...the series...3Way...and Eden Riegel's Imaginary Bitches. And of course, last but not least...Dorothy Surrenders. This blog is everything everyone else has posted...and more! Thank you!

    Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

  21. No THANK YOU Ms. Snarker!
I am not sure how I stumbled upon your wonderful blog, but I am very thankful that I did. I look forward to reading it everyday, and although I love Friday posts I dread reading "My Weekend Crush" because I know I won't get to read this for two days.
So thank you for bringing a little joy to our lives, and for keeping us informed of all that is gay and wonderful (don't those two words mean the same thing? lol) in the world.
Have a good Turkey Day Americans!

    Thanks, Ms. Snarker!

I'm thankful that my niece turned me on to your blog. I'm thankful that I was able to legally marry my partner of 14 years this past July here in Santa Cruz, CA. I'm thankful to finally have a Democrat back in the White House. (soon, very soon) And I'm thankful that I moved from Indiana to California 20 years ago, because I sure don't miss the snow! Peace and love to all the wonderful queers!

I give thanks to all the people in the Exchange Office at the University in Adelaide, Australia. I found out yesterday that I have won a full scholarship to study in Boston next year for two semesters!! Because of them I will be living in America, studying on-campus at college, and perhaps most importantly, celebrating Thanksgiving next year for the first time!

And then I guess, I should also thank my beloved/hated textbooks... I carried those things with me everywhere all year and helped me achieve the results I needed for the scholarship.

Also, thanks to Ms Snarker for her witty writing and delicious puns.

    Until next year then.
    Thank you.

  29. Oooh yes, do an analysis of the new Pink video! I've always liked her but the video for "So What" just slays me. Maybe because I identify with leaving a "tool."

Anyway, I am thankful that I found Dorothy Snarker because she always makes me laugh or otherwise touch my heart in some profound way. Happy Gobble Gobble to you too Ms. Snarker!

  30. I thankful for the fact that you love Jennifer Beals, Tina Fey, and Rachel Maddow so much. They are, by far, the hottest ladies. Ever. Next to my Sweetheart, of course.

Thanks for a rockin' blog that I love to read, hot photos of sassy brunettes, wonderfully refreshing snarkycism, and bringing together oodles of women who also have crushes on fabulous and delightful women.

    Peace.
