Not that we need reminding in our current political hellscape, but representation matters. It always matters, and it always will. If you want a joyful reminder of this, check out the new documentary “Queer Qamp” streaming now on Peacock. The film follows the campers at Camp fYrefly, a camp for queer, non-binary, and trans teens in Alberta, Canada. You’ll be drawn into these students' stories and struggles, and be reminded once again of the power of acceptance and inclusion. What if we, as a world, embraced those who loved or looked or identified differently than us instead of responding with hate, fear, exclusion and far, far worse? What if the whole world was like “Queer Qamp?” I recommend this 80 minutes of queer, non-binary and trans joy, no matter your age. I promise it’ll do your heart good, and have you chanting “Queer Joy!”
I live in the Texas of Canada and didn't realize we even had this for queer youth, thank you for highlighting this doc.
