My Weekend Crush

https://obcrack.tumblr.com/post/626019737485312000/2020-so-far

I have not watched any “Warrior Nun” yet, but this really makes me want to watch “Warrior Nun.” I understand there’s also a queer character, which is always a plus. So, kittens, anyone watch this show? Would you recommend it? I’ve been in a real “The Old Guard” state of mind recently, so good action is on my mind. I had also wondered about a few other shows, like “Into the Badlands” and “Warrior.” So, let me have it like 2020 has let “Joy” and any “Last Hope of Returning to Normal” have it. What are you watching? I need to fill these weekend with something other than general despair and unfettered rage. As always, extra bonus points for any female-fronted shows/movies and super-duper extra points for LGBTQ storylines. Happy safe, healthy and righteous weekend, all.

  1. It's kinda terrible. The nuns are a bit too powerless for my liking, considering their mission, and (spoiler) the evil guy is exactly who you think he is because the red herring is so fucking obvious. Watch it when you don't feel like using your brain for anything.

I loved it. It's trash and as a 45+year old I should know better, but I was hooked.
Above comments are on the money, maybe I just needed to switch the brain off

Warrior Nun is not by any means perfect but will serve you well in the “2020 needs to sit down and shut up” category. A better bet if you have HULU is MOTHERLAND: Ft Salem. Great world-building and absolutely female-centric.

i was really annoyed with how they ripped off the Wire's Omar. They made an almost carbon-copy of him in the character of Mary, and once I saw that I couldn't unsee it.

Legends of Tomorrow is hilarious and a great treat. Only skip season 1, it’s terrible and you don’t need it. Also super gay.

It's not at all like The Old Guard but I just binged The Bold Type on Hulu. It's very female-focused and very progressive. One of the main characters is a queer woman of color. BONUS- Melora Hardin (TAMMY!) is the boss on the show and is fantastic- her character is married to a man but she sports a VERY GAY HAIRCUT.

  9. I really enjoyed Warrior Nun, it has good action scenes, interesting characters, and some great lines. It also has an unexpected twist at the end, and has been renewed, so that's a bonus.
Just binged Teenage Bounty Hunters this weekend. It's brilliant, and bonkers. Definite Wynonna Earp vibe, so I loved it.
