Post-L: Let Me Have It

So, what did you think? I thought we’d take a little space to process because it’s called “The L Word” after all and that’s what lesbians do. So, did you like it? Did you hate it? Was it a big meh for you? Or were you just so happy to see Jennifer Beals, Leisha Hailey and Kate Moennig all having brunch together again?

I have rewatched the first three episodes multiple times now...for science. And, yeah, I like it. It’s not terrible or a disaster or horrendous - which is always a plus. The tone is definitely a little different - less soapy, less campy and as a result a little less fun (at least for now). But I appreciate the relative lack of ridiculous, nonsensical drama (i.e. basically every Jenny storyline) for now. And I feel it’s making an earnest effort to be inclusive (though, still no hard butches and not a lot of varying body types because, you know, Hollywood).

You can read my full review here, if you haven’t already. So, have at it. I want to hear it. Is Generation Q for you?

p.s. I still hate the name, but you know I’m cranky that way.

How did you see 3 episodes? The first episode was good enuf to keep watching. Maybe pit hair is a statement for some. Doesn’t do it for me.

I liked it more than I was expecting. Most of what I liked was the stuff about the original trio, didn’t care much for the new characters. Except for the opening sex scene, That was amazing.
I am here and will continue to be here for Alice, Shane and Bette.
But I am annoyed at the perspective of watching gay men romance. We waited 10 years to get TLW back on tv and this is how you want to spend these precious time? Seriously?

Also I have theories about the opioid crisis, Kit Porter and the reason Bette is running for mayor

What a blast from the past that is Bette, Alice and Shane. I liked them being a decade older but somehow still up to the hilt with baggage.

Not sure what Alice's baggage is yet (umm, Tasha, where art thou?), but I like her new lip-tastic show. I get what you mean now, DS, by the mommy business - never really thought her to be in that kind of relationship.

As for Shane, you made it big! Who knew. Hope, someone will mend her broken heart. Preferably in the form of Carmen... (Did I imagine that Sarah Shahi is coming back to the series?! Internet search inconclusive.) But hey, maybe a proper story line would also be good. I think, Kate Moennig could pull it off.

Bette, just wow. I missed her commanding voice and manners. Boi, is she in need of better PR - so Dani should be helpful. PS: I'm glad Mama T is alive in absentia.

Gen Q - Hm. No one particularly stands out for me, but then again, it's not really for them I'm watching. They are o-kay.

    Will keep watching.
