OK, fine, it’s Trailer Week, plus two. I promise this is the last one. Probably. Remember way, way back in 2017 when it was reported that HBO was working on a historical drama based on the real life of 19th Century Englishwoman, landowner, diarist and incredibly gay lady Anne Lister? Now, you may recall it was being created and written by Sally Wainwright of “Last Tango in Halifax” and “Happy Valley” fame? And you may recall I was curious how it would stand up against the little-seen BBC series from 2010 on the same topic, “The Secret Diaries of Anne Lister?”
Well, if you answered yes to any or all of those questions, here is your reward. The series, now called “Gentleman Jack,” stars Suranne Jones as Anne/Gentleman Jack. You may recognize Suranne from the wildly addicting “Scott & Bailey” (or as I like to call it, smart, British Rizzoli & Isles) , which is also by Sally Wainwright.
In short, I’m very excited this is will all be happening with these people on my TV screen really soon.
Looks good
ReplyDeleteCan’t wait to see it
I’m still crushed about LTIH/Kate. Hard to trust SW with another L series but that being said I haven’t seen anything else she’s done besides Happy Valley. I’m looking forward to seeing your review!
ReplyDeleteLooks really good, hope we can trust SW this time.
