Still I March

So over the weekend you might of heard of a little march that happened. Nothing much – just more than 3 million people in all 50 states (not to mention across the globe) taking to the streets to protest Trump and support progressive causes. The Women’s March broke all attendance expectations as crowds came out in force in Washington D.C. and more than 600 sister marches around the world. I can honestly say Saturday was the first day I’ve logged on to Twitter since the election and felt nothing but pure, unadulterated joy. Make no mistake, America is already great. Yes, I know, we still have so, so, so many problems – institutional racism, police brutality, economic inequality, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc, et al.

But the peaceful show of force on Saturday - which unequivocally eclipsed President Tiny Crowd’s inauguration – no matter what his propaganda secretary says – is a reminder that we outnumber them. We are the popular vote. There really, really are more of us than them. So if you ever feel hopeless, if you ever feel scared – know this, you are not alone. We are everywhere and we are legion. And we’re going to keep protesting and organizing and resisting for as long as it takes to remove our illegitimate, bigoted, egomaniacal president from office. And if you ever need reminding, think back to that day. It didn’t matter if they were in Red States or Blue States, people poured out onto the streets. Because we will not be silenced, and we are more powerful than they know.

So take another look some of at the massive turnout around America because you know it chaps that rotting hate pumpkin’s ass to have so many women show him up.

  1. I love this.
I was there in spirit as I am across the world. My heart was/is overwhelmed and bursting with pride and gratitude to all these women and men who came out to show that orange buffoon what everyone thinks and wants.

  2. We marched here in South Africa. Best sign here? This one, so true:

WITH YOU ALL THE WAY, EVERY DAY, WE ARE NEVER GIVING UP ON THE USA

    Trump is NOT America.

You are, and you all rock. Get mad, stay mad, fight back.

  3. Did not have a favorite sign from my local march (about 5,000 showed up), it was the sign holders who caught my eye, young and old, able and disabled, brown, black, white, Asian, and Native American, all genders, LGBTQ and straight. My favorite of the chants, the people united will never be defeated, this to the beat of a djembe drum. The original marching route was apparently re-routed on the fly, because thousands showed when only hundreds were expected. Afterwards, more than a few of the younger folks took off in cars to join the LA march. Astonishing day.

I was at the LA March. I have never seen the subway so crowded. Everyone was so peaceful and chanting and it made me very happy. Best sign was this lady in a suffragette outfit who had a sign that said " I time traveled for this? "

I marched in Oakland (surprised you didn't show pics from there since we are local - I know you can't show all the places though). It was uplifting and buoying.
    Favorite signs - so many:
A kid carrying - 'I've got a very special dump for Trump in my diaper!'
    'IKEA makes better cabinets!'
    'Viva la reVULVAlucion'

I also took part in the London March. While the city is usually crowded, it was practically overflowing with protesters on the day. 100,000 rough estimates. :)

So many favourite signs, from Princess Leia portraits displaying 'A woman's place is in the revolution' (or alternatively resistance or rebellion) to all those celebrating our female parts... It was truly inspiring.

Hang in there, the fight has just begun, and we're by your side!

  7. Show a little love to Atlanta, GA: 63,000 glorious marchers, led by the most honorable Congressman John Lewis. We laughed, we cried, we sang, we chanted, we ignored the tornado warnings. I've never been prouder of my adopted city.

Marched in San Francisco with my mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law and two nieces. I saw so many great signs, the best said "If I wanted the government in my womb, I would f--- a senator." It was inspiring to see that many people marching down Market St. in the rain.
