Michelle Obama brought it last night, and not just the biceps. She was eloquent, passionate, compassionate. And she did this all while essentially saying, “Just be a good person, not a greedy fuck.” Now that’s the America I want to live in for the next four years – and forever.
Mostly I dont comment but the term "greedy" made me smile. I suppose the expensive vacations, jewelry, clothing and White House partying over the past four years doesnt count? :>) Is she kind? No doubt about it, the lady has class.
ReplyDeleteNo, those things don't count. "Greed" in this context isn't having money or spending money, there's nothing inherently wrong with being rich. And politics is chock full of millionaires.
ReplyDeleteIts being rich and then manipulating your finances so that you pay less taxes than people much poorer than yourself, and supporting policies that make you richer while crippling programs that tend to benefit poorer people that's the problem.
Thank you Telepresence. Very true.
ReplyDeleteYeah she was great. I was a bit surprised she didn't mention her husbands murder of countless women and children via drone strikes ( 268 in Pakistan alone, and, we ain't at war with Pakistan) ? Surprising huh?
ReplyDeleteMake no mistake, she is an evil bitch and her husband is a lying murdering fraud. Bradley manning? Whistleblowers he promised to help? He's prosecuted them hitler! fact.
Where is the transpareny he promised? He is the least transparent in history! Fact. NDAA? Fast and furious? Wake the f&$; up! Please!!!
The two, party system is a joke! These scumbags are all in the pockets of the mega banks and corporations that run this nightmare!!
Wow Winston, are you on the right website? Granted, I'm the odd woman out in that I'm a (sort-of) conservative lesbian, meaning that I think all the religions crap of the republicans is crap and I'm not a pro-lifer, but still think that the foremost problems in this country like the FAILING economy and joblessness should be dealt with before my marriage rights, and Obamacare is crap - but geez man, perhaps your angry posts are more warranted elsewhere. I can assure you that few that agree with you are here, and if they are they don't want such a hateful post. There is a difference in a conversation and just coming here to start shit.
ReplyDeleteIt's ok VLC, it's not surprising. We understand that some conservatives are simply hateful people and just love to spew their vileness wherever they can.
ReplyDeleteYessss!

ReplyDeleteyou're welcome!
At least the First Lady has personally experienced being middle class and having student loan debt. The Romneys have only heard about these things from their butler.
ReplyDeleteIt's a given that all the candidates will be elite aristocrats, but not all aristocrats are cut from the same cloth. When there's a depression on, people don't want a "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" Herbert Hoover-type aristocrat. We want the Franklin Roosevelt-type aristocrat who will come up with new programs, and even if they fail, he'll try again and come up with something different. Noblesse oblige, anyone?
Where's the Romneycare plan? There isn't one, because the Romneys think that if you and I weren't so lazy, we'd be rich enough that our chauffeurs could drive us to the hospital if we got sick.
The Democrats are certainly not without their fair share of losers. (Take my state's anti-choice but Democratic Congressional rep - please.) Nonetheless, I'll be much prouder to have four more years of First Lady Michelle Obama than I'll ever be to have a First Lady Anne "Let Them Eat Cake" Romney.
That was the most beautiful dress Michelle wore -- and perfect for her particular body. I couldn't stop looking at her. The speech was incredibly crafted so as to really knock Romney's stinkin policies and pecadillos by only contrasting to her own stories.
ReplyDeleteBy the end of the speech I could see she could be tearing up. That's when I lost it and cried the ugly cry into my shorts. (I was folding laundry.)
P.S. What the hell? "Let them eat cake" republicans on this site? Really? I got just one thing to say to you - "It's OUR turn." :D
actually, those are legitimate criticisms Winston, but you make them easy for people to dismiss as hateful because the language and tone is, well, hateful. I understand your passion, and I agree with a lot of what you said. and yes, I'm a lesbian.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you think I'm a republican/ conservative tells all. can you read? I said the two, party system is a joke! The so called parties exist as distractions only. They both belong to big banks and big business. Obama is as much a neo con as bush is my point. Yet brand him liberal and you all cower. Come on! Just look at the drone strikes this "liberal" has authorized. See how many innocent women and children have been killed. Or address the other things I mention like NDAA, fast and furious, etc. I'd love to hear the excuses.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly the problem with two party thinking. I call out Obama so I must be a republican? Wow. Are there only ever two solutions to a problem? Come on people.
they are all bought and paid for. Obama is a serial liar. He is a scumbag like the rest. Until you acknowledge that you are helping to ruin this country by supporting the two party system. And, as you know, the " news" is brought to you by the same people who own the candidates, so connect the dots people, come on......
