My Weekend Crush

I love “Finding Nemo.” I loved it from the first moment I saw it at a dollar theater after it had long ended its regular run because I was too cool to go see an animated movie no matter how much everyone raved about it. Now, I own the DVD. I downloaded it to my phone. I may even have cuddly stuffed Dory. That last one was a gift, I swear. What I love most about it, besides being smart and funny and as adorable as can be, is that it makes me feel better each time I watch it. We all have that movie, the one we put on as a guaranteed mood lifter. Sure, there’s the Bambi-esque opening with its bad things that happen to good fish eggs. But then there is everything else. And everything else makes me just plum happy. In fact, it’s kind of my happy place. And, in January, I’m always looking for things to make me happy – this January is no different. So after a long, tiring, stressful week, I plan to put on a little “Find Nemo” and talk whale with Dory. And then, then I should be ready to just keep swimming through the rest of the year. Happy weekend, all.

It is my absolute favourite animation. Ellen was brilliant as Dory. I love her "I have short term memory loss"..... I identify with that fish's sense of humour. Great choice.

    Great post.
I have the same story with Wall-E.
I refused to go see it at the theater because I was all "no way, am I gonna go see a kid movie". And then after 2 years, I finally saw it and it blew my mind. The first 20 minutes are just so amazingly touching. Wall-E never fails to make me happy.
When I want to cry like a baby, I put on Up.

  5. We just got our first new tv this century (plus some) and Finding Nemo was the first movie we watched on it. It looked great!

  6. This movie was an instant classic. I love the sea turtles dude, but Dory's fearlessness and positive outlook can lift any bad day. I find similar insights from Elf, even in the middle of summer. Somebody needs a hug!

I'm a total Pixar girl so I'm often there opening weekend. Wall-E, Nemo and Monsters Inc are my pick-me-ups. I got stuck at a flat screen display at the department store a couple weeks ago because they had Monsters Inc on Blu-Ray. It looked spectacular! I need a bigger tv and a blu-ray player...
I hope Dory restores some of your cheer. :)

  9. Dory's awesome, but I love the Turtles. They're the best. All in all it's a great, great movie that always puts a smile on my face (especially the Boston accent'd lobster... :))

A message via carrier pigeon from the front. (Steady Snarks darling! Steady! :) )

Snarks, thank God you’re alright!!! I was beginning to worry. I am frightfully sorry to hear about your difficult week and wish you and the fish well in that “happy place” of yours! (LOVE Dory!!! :D ) Despite once being an avid scuba enthusiast myself, I can honestly say I have yet to stumble upon my own personal underwater Shangri-La. In fact, one time in the Caribbean some scarlet coloured little rascal of a fish saw fit to carry out a prolonged assault on yours truly that lasted a good 15 minutes or so! The cheek of it! No matter what I tried, the little blighter would not desist from his attempts to bite tiny little portions of flesh out of my backside!

My celluloid “happy place”? ‘Wag The Dog’! :D

While you were struggling with those mysterious “technical difficulties” of yours, those little Napoleonic Butch-Hating fascists over on the dreaded ‘L Chat’ were banning me! They also saw fit to run amok and delete any pro-Butch sentiments and threads they could find! (Well, mine at least. Sieg Heil I say! Seig bloody Heil!!! Yes, they deleted the thread entitled, ‘L Chat NAZI regime’ after I had posted to it. :) ) With regard to the banning, I think they just had no answer to my pointing out that their behaviour was, in light of their professing support for the anti SOPA/PIPA blackouts, rank HYPOCRISY of the highest order!!!

I think I may also have offended them by my refusal to employ vocabulary such as fuck, cunt, ass bandit etc. etc. etc. Is it my fault I am simply incapable of lowering myself to their standards?

“Dyslexic foul mouthed louts the whole ruddy lot them! Damn colonists!!!”

Granny please!!! Not all Americans are like that by any stretch! Besides, we don’t want to offend darling Snarks do we?!

Anyway, I would just like to state once again for the record, that despite your rather hurtful cold shoulder attitude towards me (darling!), I will always LOVE you for the fact that in spite of the trying times in which we live, and despite the somewhat trying nature of some of your commenters (*cough ahem* crashing on! :) ) you continue maintaining this wonderful little free speech zone of yours!

    Bravo Snarks! Bravo!!!

Three cheers for Snarks everybody! Three cheers!!!

PS ‘Banned from the L Chat’ – a badge I shall wear with pride from now on! :) Banned for wantonly and persistently engaging in civilised discourse above and beyond the capabilities of those little Butch-Hating fascistic mods! :D Not only was I banned, four threads with which I was associated were unceremoniously deleted (two on the day of the SOPA/PIPA blackout no less!) in less than two days! Could that be some sort of record? (Not counting of course that little pre-Christmas purge of theirs that would make even Stalin himself blush!)

P(2)S I easily found a way around their stupid little ban by re-booting the old router. Still, I seem to have lost almost all appetite for engaging with the little swines… :/

P(3)S This just in: ‘Google Is Already Using SOPA-Like Censorship’!

  12. P.S. to Perdita, the second:

I've been banned too and my truthful words deleted/purged for all the wrong reasons. And it IS a badge of courage to be banned for standing up for what is right.

It is one of my fav movies too! So many great moments. I particularly love the end: 'And now, what' It never fails to amuse me. In fact, it is now one of my favourite sayings, 'and now, what!!!!'
