If your heart doesn't grow three sizes at the sight of little animated Sara and Ingrid together, well, then there's no roast beast (or roast tofurkey, for all my vegetarian friends) for you tomorrow. Plus, if you ignore the separate beds, you can totally read a lesbianish subtext into that video.
The song is part of the wonderful holiday collection “The Hotel Cafe presents...Winter Songs.” The CD includes seasonal originals and classics by female singer-songwriters including Brandi Carlile, KT Tunstall, Fiona Apple, Colbie Caillat and many more. Naturally, I downloaded the whole thing from iTunes immediately. Best yet, a portion of the proceeds go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, to support breast cancer research. (If you download individual songs, be sure to include the “Auld Lang Syne” medley to still donate.) My only complain: Katy Perry, seriously? I guess there really is no escaping her. Blessedly, there is a “delete” button. And not even Katy can ruin the beauty of all these women's voice making a joyful noise. May the wonder of winter fill your heart with love, peace and light.
Hat tip, Ms. Snarker. I always find the freshest and most fetch stuff here. Happy Snarky Holidays.
ReplyDeleteLovely song! I discovered Sara Bareilles last summer accidentally while googling for something else. I automatically fall in love with lady singer-songwriters. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I haven't bought her music yet, but will soon.
Merry Christmas all!
You have a truly wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for that it did indeed make my heart swell and reminded me of my trip to Iceland with my girlfriend!

I LOVE it! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post. I absolutely love this album and you just helped me decide what my friends will be getting for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to think with all the Katy Perry pop ups in the lesbianish word that maybe she likes kissing girls MORE than her supposed boyfriend (and who is he anyway?)... Loved the video, very cute and very lesbianish for sure!
ReplyDeleteWishing tidings of comfort and joy to Miss Dorothy and all my fellow Snarkerettes!

Happy Holidays
loved that post, thank u. and brandi carliles
ReplyDeletesong on there is amazing too. thanks, happy holidays
Haven't listened to it yet, but sure it's wonderful. Not surprised that Katy Perry is included. Apparently the lesbians "love her". UGH. She's performing at Dinah Shore (I emailed into comments and Mariah Hanson - Club Skirts - emailed me back directly) and apparently LA Pride and GLAAD are trying to get her to perform at their events. That brings an even bigger ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH. Apparently she's reaching out through humor. Seriously?
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, can't wait to listen to this album and Merry Christmas to you!
I was so pissed when Sara Bareilles' single 'Love song' came out here in the UK. She became uber popular, and I'd been by her side at least a year before this. Luckily, for me but not for her, Ingrid isn't yet a household name. I can still enjoy the sound without the crowd. I've known about Ingrid much longer than Sara, and love them both wholly. Ingrid and Joshua Radin's 'Sky' duet isn't bad either...
ReplyDeleteI also knew about this song before it's making - the pro to mailing lists - but I hadn't caught the video. Animated Sara and Ingrid are so cute!
Well dang, that song nearly made me cry.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas.
nice to know i'm not the only one totally obsessed with this song :)
