American pie

Eight reasons I can't wait until 8 o'clock tonight:

Anna Friel (a.k.a. Chuck Charles)Kristin Chenoweth (a.k.a Olive Snook)[Click to embiggen my fuzzy math.]

And two more, just for good measure:

Swoosie Kurtz & Ellen Green (a.k.a. Lily and Vivian)

It's strange, but the closer tonight's premiere of “Pushing Daisies” gets the more I realize how much I've missed it's Dr. Seuss for adults approach to television. In its too-brief first season, it was a weekly reminder that we could all use a little more whimsy in our lives. And, gosh, who doesn't want a pint-sized Olive Snook of her very own? While it's practically sacrilege to say this with a cast so unassailably nice, I think I might actually be rooting for Olive. Not that I'm not rooting for Chuck. Oh, shucks. I'm rooting for everyone. Crap. There goes my misanthropic street cred. You won't tell anyone, will you? Though, if “Pushing Daisies” can't bring out your inner optimist, nothing will.

p.s. This is the moment I knew I was going to watch every single second of this show. Consider that birdhouse made.

  1. snarker, sometimes i think we are of one mind. pushing daisies is truly must see tv for me...one of the few (i.e. maybe three) shows that actually fits that moniker.

as for when i knew i would watch every second of this show forever, three words: chenoweth. hopelessly devoted.

ps: i'm rooting for olive too. and digby.

I love this show... unlike so much of what TV gives us, this show is Fresh, innovative, colorful, fun, etc. etc.

I find myself really happy when watching everything in the world of Pushing Daisies unfold.

I've been a big fan of Lee Pace, since seeing him in A Soldiers Girl and then of course another one of TV's great but far too short lived shows: Wonderfalls!

Along with Lee comes a whole group of talented actors like Kristin Chenowith, Swoosie Kurtz, Ellen Greene, Chi McBride and showing that she's got the right stuff... Anna Friel!

I'm looking forward to more of this great show!

  4. Oh man, I’m so glad you posted this. I’ve been strangling, um gently prodding, my best friend to watch this for months. Jeez, I suffer through Gossip Girl for her, the least she could do is rabbit hole up for me. Right? She totally reads this blog, so let me say: “Take That, And That, Oh, And Some Of That” ( it’s a working title).

Didn't Chenoweth play the role of good witch Glinda in Wicked? I'm pretty sure it was her when I went to see Wicked. :)

Love the show! I can't wait until we get (in the UK) what you get (in the US). It's. Just. Not. On.

I hadn't seen this show at all, and had resisted getting interested after hearing good things about it, cause who needs to lose more time in front of the tube - but ever since I saw this clip here, I can't stop singing that damn song!! And thinking about the show. And how freakin' funny it is, that not only do the dog and Swoosie exchange looks at the singing, but that Swoosie looks at the dog with her *blind* eye! LMAO

*sigh* I think you snagged another viewer...Curse you, Ms. Snarker! :b

  9. Hiya, other Piato here, yea there’s two of us. We’re like the Wonder Twins. I’m not really sure who they are, but I’m going to go with it. First, no one has to “suffer” through Gossip Girl. If Jesus were real, and he were a show, he would be GG. No doubt. I mean, I nearly fainted with the latest fashion week crossover episode. And fine, I’ll watch stupid Pushing Daises. Lookit, I’ve never really been against it, I’ve just been dedicating myself to other things, like trying to steal my girlfriend’s iphone. “Oh, look at me I’m all quirky and bright, like Juno on acid”, and you know that baby is gonna have birth defects. Oh,and speaking of, never be all like, “doesn’t it feel like a parasite is eating your insides and stuff” to a pregnant lady, or you will totally get kicked out of the shower. But on a brighter note you’ll get to smoke up while you wait for your ride (not in the good way) to give his sister (who totally did shrooms with us in Athens on Halloween 4 years ago) some stupid ass rocking horse or whatever, and now she’s totally going to dress her baby as a pumpkin, or if we’re lucky a jack-o-lantern. Ok, so it wasn’t much brighter.

So I guess I'm the only one who finds Kristin Chenoweth basically kind of creepy? Am I?

  12. Seriously, there are too many shows on TV right now to watch. I have the ability to record 2 shows at a time and yet, couldn't get Pushing Daisies. Hopefully, I can watch it online...

You know they pulled a couple of episodes of this over here to avoid the finale clashing with the start of some dreadful reality TV thing. I mean, really. Anna Friel *sigh*
