Whooo! Today has been a great day, was guaranteed to be great because of its momentous significance, and every time today that I thought of all the couples getting married, I couldn't help but smile and wish that I was at some of the ceremonies instead of at work!
This post just made me cry with a warm fuzzy feeling (sometimes I wish I wasn't quite such a softy).
Unfortunately I'm at work, and I'm not sure they're not going to take my saying "These property inspection reports are just...so good!" as a reason why I'm crying...Still, I spose I had to get busted for internet use when I should be working at some point... :D
That is all so sweet! Except for the guys in cowboy hats. Themed weddings always seem like a good idea at the time, but for some reason they don't hold up well over time in the photo album. Still and yet, congrats to all Californians who can now legally marry!
Those two ladies with their eyes closed - the one with the short brown hair and the long blond hair - they look like they've been waiting for a long time. The emotion in their faces made me cry.
Thank you for posting this. And thank you to all the people who are working to make us a reality in this country. Even though I'm not in any danger of getting married anytime soon, I am so grateful that things are finally changing and I could have that chance one day too, if I wanted it.
I was at the wedding of the first couple married in Yolo County, while protesters stood outside with their hate signs (and one broke in to interrupt the reception, quickly ushered out by police). But love permeated the building and I looked around at all those happy people and wondered in amazement that anybody could find ANYTHING objectionable about this.
one thing though: i've notices that most of the images coming out in the media about the day feature white couples. do you think that queers of color are less interested in marriage?
There's nothing you can know that isn't known. Nothing you can see that isn't shown. Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be. It's easy. All you need is love, all you need is love, All you need is love, love, love is all you need. All you need is love (all together now) All you need is love (everybody) All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
I've managed to look at all the photos straight-faced so far, but I must admit that synching it up with that song nearly made me shed a tear. I'm not the marrying kind, but it still makes me super-fuzzy inside to think that my friends in California can now.
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI especially love the old couple (They even showed them on the 8 o'clock news here in the Netherlands).
One thing though: Do you really want to get married wearing the exact same outfit?
