Cate makes everything better

Do you remember Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day? Well, It’s been like Ms. Snarker and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Week here these last few days. I’m not looking for sympathy, just to bitch since it’s pretty much my only recourse. In fact, I’ve gotten so good at bitching, I’m thinking about turning pro. A recap of my THNGVBW: my grandmother died (she was 93, it was expected and very peaceful, but still – of course – very sad); my DSL is still down and won’t be back until Monday at the earliest (hence all the posting irregularity of late); my car wouldn’t start and had to be towed to the shop (luckily it just needed a new battery) and my company’s new health insurance plan will cost me an extra $200 a month (and the coverage is crappier, too – of course). Gosh, I feel fantastic. I think I deserve a little Cate Blanchett today, don’t you? (Click any and all to enlarge.)She is almost exquisite enough to make me forget that I hate the world. Almost.p.s. I don’t care what that magazine cover says, I am not over the F-word. In fact, I’ve been using it liberally all week. That and shaking my fists at the sky.

  5. Dorothy, my sincerest condolences on losing your gran - mine died a year ago aged 99; she was born before the Titanic was built and before the First World War, so had lived a full and interesting life! i trust that yours did too.

and there ain't nothin' wrong with looking at purdy things to make the world a wee bit more bearable :-)

  6. Hey, sorry to hear about your gran. These past few days/weeks have been absolutely crazy for everyone I know (IRL or not). Some weird planet alignment must be at work or something.

Hope all gets sorted out for the best soon.xoxox

Hang in there Ms. S. My sympathy on the passing of your gran. My empathy regarding you DSL, work and other situation. Not gonna get preachy and don't mean to come off as cliche but things will get better soon. And you're most welcome to bitch here as long as you like, I'm sure you would have noticed that we don't mind it one bit. In fact (I daresay) that I admire you for it. It would certainly mean that you're comfortable enough to bitch in light of your followers *smiles*, and I can't speak for the others, but that's a plus for this here fan.

So chin up love, keep pumping those fists to the sky, bitching and whatever else to get it out of your system. Better days are ahead and I'm hoping that they come real soon.

  9. Hey Ms D

Sorry it's been a pants week (especially sorry about your grandmother) but glad you didn’t suffer in silence.

Today's piece of Cate was most welcome, thank you, as are (almost) all your weekend crushes.

I thought I'd had a shite week but you beat me hands down. I only locked myself out of the house, drove my car down to its brake discs (euww the noise) and downloaded Vista upgrades that transformed my PC into a Commodore 64. Made me scream like a banshee (euww the noise). Last night I managed to inadvertently press Num Lock AND Scr Lock on my laptop (teach me for typing in the dark) and convinced myself my keyboard – as well as my life – had been abducted by aliens. Ahem. Hey ho.

So come join the rest of us in the PBL (Pro Bitch League). And hope someone or something brushes the grey from outta your skies and paints them only blue.

    x

    Dear Dot,

I want to offer my deepest thanks, the thing is, in this world where our love and 'lifestyle' is commonly regarded as sick, to say the least, that you can still write the way you do while you're grieving deserves a standing ovation, maybe you could run for president? (While making lots of snarky Hillary Clinton jokes)
