Pushing Wonder

Sometimes, when scanning the channels, I am quickly reminded that there is no Brian Fuller show on television right now. And this makes me sad. Because Brian Fuller shows like “Pushing Daisies” and “Wonderfalls” had a whimsy to them that is nearly impossible to replicate. It wasn’t that they were silly, though some silly things did happen. It was that they made the absurd and fantastical into something amazing and fabulous. That’s not easy to do. I mean one show was about a gal who spoke to inanimate objects and another was about a guy who could touch the dead and bring them back to life. This is weird, but works. Another thing I miss about Brian Fuller shows is how well they are cast. Caroline Dhavernas. Tracie Thoms. Anna Friel. Kristin Chenoweth. Come on, these are some fantastic ladies. Also, “Wonderfalls” had a lesbian sister. We love a lesbian sister. So now, because I can and because we can’t watch any of his shows live right now, here’s a little reminder of what we’re missing without a Brian Fuller show on our televisions.

Wonderfalls

That lesbian sister plays prominently in this one. And, yes, the thumb-licking lady is Kari Matchett from “Covert Affairs” with brown hair. Saved you a whole day’s wondering.

Pushing Daisies

I stand by my contention that every show on TV can be made better by having Cheno sing on it. This is just a fact.

Brian Fuller’s next TV foray is a remake of “The Munsters.” Yeah, I know it sounds crazy. But so did all of his other shows. So I’ll be there. He gave us a talking smoosed-faced lion. How could I not?

Oh, Wonderfalls. The only thing I hate about that show is how few episodes there are to rewatch to distraction.

Pushing Daisies - perfect blend of whimsy and emotion!

First of all, the fact that you seem to love Cheno almost as much as I do makes me really happy. Secondly, Pushing Daisies is, quite possibly, the most perfect show ever. End of story.

Wonderfalls is one of only two shows that I still miss (the other being Buffy). But, at least Buffy has seven seasons to re-watch. I completely identified with Jaye as a sarcastic underachiever. Sigh, FOX sucks.

I must admit I only saw a little bit of Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies I don't remember a'tall. But now I do.:)

Anyway,

OH JOY!! Cheno's and a new pick up line for me: "is that ink on your chin, darling?"

Fuller also did "Dead Like Me" which is not half as good as the others even -- but still brilliant!

He is also dabbling in the Hannibal Lecter genre! OH JOY! OH JOY! OH JOY! Thanks you Snarks for an otherwise horrible MUNDAY. blick

Here's the blurb about Fulller's activities:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NBC's latest Bryan Fuller project, a remake of 60s sitcom The Munsters, is getting a new name, among other facelifts.
The show will be called Mockingbird Lane, a reference to the street the spooky family lives on. Casting is currently underway.
Fans of Fuller, known for his gone-too-soon series Pushing Daisies, know he isn't the type to think inside the box. Reps from NBC call this new project "an imaginative reinvention" of the classic series, which means we can probably expect the lavish sets and popping colors that made him famous.
No word yet on a potential airdate. Fuller also has his hand's busy with another NBC remake project: a series based on Silence of Lambs' Hannibal Lecter.
fun facts: Caroline Dhavernas had a small role in "Lost and Delirious" with Piper Perabo AND Thomas the fake UPS guy with the peanut allergy is played by Gabriel Hogan son of Michael and Susan Hogan AKA Irwin and Sharon Fairbanks.
Wonderfalls and Firefly. TBH, I think the fact that they only lasted 1 season has made them even better. They never had a chance to suck lol.
