My Weekend Crush

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m really more of a Team Lena kind of gal. Still I’ve always liked Piper Perabo and thought her cute as a button. A button that gets to kiss Lena Headey. But I never really felt that, well, umpf that makes my knees wobble and my pulse quicken. That is until now. Seeing her fight and flash that smirk. Seeing her kick ass and keep her cool in those tightly tailored suits. It’s all working for me, even if her new show rockets unapologetically into giddy preposterousness from time to time. “Covert Affairs” is all about Piper. That slip of a girl (well, not really a girl, we’re practically the same age), doing all those feats of derring-do.

There was a moment in this week’s episode when Piper, glistening sweat from hitting the heavy bag, looks over her shoulder and it reminded me in an instant why I love women. There was a grace and poetry amid the iron and grit. That duality – the hard and the soft, the head and the heart, the light and the dark. In that moment it all came together. I saw it along the epic curve of her cheekbones, the sweeping slope of her neck – those lines you want to follow forever. This is why books are written, this is why songs are sung. This is why we try and fail and try again. Also, have I mentioned she was wearing a sports bra? Yeah, sometimes it’s also that simple. Happy weekend, all.

Mmmm... Piper. Thank you for that screencap. That is indeed why books are written (and really smutty fanfic :)

Have a good weekend!

Sometimes, amid the snark, it is easy to forget some things.

This week's crush, not only showcased Piper, but also what a gifted writer you are.

Indeed, Ms. Snarker. Indeed.

Oh, I am so in agreement with you on this one. I am Team Lena all the way, but I am having pitter patters at Miss Piper when I watch this show. Yowza. Thank you for putting it in words better than I ever could have.

Beautiful. I thought "Dorothy must be writing a novel in her spare time." And, Lena to look at, Piper to...

While I cannot agree with you on the Piper front, about all the other things you said about women? Right there with you.

I have to admit as much as I'm enjoying suit wearing sweaty Piper I'm not loving the show. They've made her so dumb. I mean she supposedly has gone through "most " of spy training and yet in the opening sequence is giving too much information away during a lie detector test. And she keeps making boneheaded errors which she later corrects but stil...

Thats not even getting into the bad writing and two dimensional supporting cast (seriously whats up with the boss lady she's like crazy paranoid but without any development to tell us why. And its a shame because fic wise she and Piper have much slashability to them.)

Still for my love of both Piper and Christopher Gorham I will continue to watch and hope they pull their act together.

Oooh Ms.Snarker. Right there with you. You really have a way with words. As usual I read it aloud to my partner and we both couldn't agree with you more! We love this show.

@Dory She's not dumb, she is adorable in all her inexperience. That's part of why we love to watch. Yeah and all that Ms.Snarker mentioned as well.

Is it just me, or does that last photo make her look like she could play Katee Sackhoff/Starbuck's younger sister (if she had one)? And I don't say that about all sweaty blondes in tank tops. I think there is a deeper resemblance. (And I think Agent Walker could take lessons from Capt. Thrace in how to be kicka**.)

I hope that you have all seen Lost & Delirious. Piper was a tour de force displaying every emotion that could be displayed. I fell instantly in love with her at that point. Does anyone know why that great film had such a limited release?
